Recently, it has been announced that two media heavyweights will be making their return to the horror franchise as filmmaker David F. Sandberg and screenwriter Gary Dauberman sign on to create the Until Dawn TV adaptation. Looking at their careers, this is a good sign for the future of the project.

Why Is This a Good Sign For the PlayStation Until Dawn TV Adaptation?

As stated above, both of these amazing creators already have a lot of practice working in the horror franchise, as they have both created films in the past that have been major worldwide hits. Since they have this experience, it is a brilliant sign that they are willing to work on one of the best horror games that has come to the PlayStation console.

This isn’t even the first time that these two powerhouses have worked together on a horror project, as they also worked together on the horror movie Annabelle: Creation, which is a part of the Conjuring franchise, and that project was a smash hit with both critics and audiences as they were scared out of their seats.

At the moment, the project is still under the control of Sony and will be taken to two different units that are under Sony’s control, and those units are PlayStation Productions and Screen Gems, which are the two companies that have acquired Sandberg and Dauberman.

PlayStation Productions has already been on a roll as it has already released other projects such as The Last of Us, Twisted Metal, and Gran Turismo. All of these projects have been major hits over the past year as gamers have rushed to see each of these projects and are hoping to see more, which is why it is perfect that Until Dawn will be its next project to get the TV adaptation treatment.

Why Is Until Dawn Getting the TV Adaptation Treatment Rather Than Other Projects?

Throughout the years, there have been plenty of PlayStation-exclusive games that have received critical acclaim from the gaming community, so why is Until Dawn the game that has been chosen to get a TV adaptation instead of these other franchises?

The simplest answer we could possibly give is the fact that it is a major horror game that could be developed into a fantastic horror show. Since the game essentially acts itself out like a TV show, allowing the player to choose the options each character will take, it makes sense that it would be a rather simple project to adapt into a TV show.

Even though it would be amazing to see other PlayStation exclusives adapted into other forms of media, such as games like Ghost of Tsushima, Ratchet and Clank, and Infamous, it would make sense that PlayStation Productions will continue with a rather simple story-based project that only needs a minor tweak to bring it into other forms of media.

However, this isn’t the only PlayStation exclusive that will be getting an adaptation, as there are currently talks of an adaptation for the God of War series. But now that Until Dawn has its own writer and producer, it is highly likely that it will take precedence and release sooner than God of War, as that would require a lot more work to complete.
