This report comes from XboxEra‘s Nick Baker and Jon Clarke via the latest episode of the podcast where the duo claimed that they have “independently” received information that PlayStation is working on a remake of the original title in the Uncharted series.

Nick said that the information had been provided by an anonymous source and that they had received verifiable details about this. He added that a “ground-up” remake of the game is in the works according to the source. The remake was pitched “a number of years ago” and Sony is “strongly considering” the idea at the very least.

However, Nick did not mention the developer who might be working on the game and said that it is not confirmed if the game will ever come out so fans should take this with a pinch of salt. Additionally, the leaks originated from Nick Baker and have mostly turned out to be accurate and there’s a possibility that the game may get a remake after all but fans are advised not to get their hopes up until there is an official announcement from Sony.

Naughty Dog modder and dataminer Speclizer also said after the podcast that a remake of the game was being discussed a few years ago as The Last of Us Part 2 files from 2020 have several references to it. This could be linked to the first rumors of a Drake’s Fortune remake, suggesting PlayStation’s Visual Arts Group was considering it but ended up working on The Last of Us Part 1.

There Is Already a Remake of the Drake’s Fortune, Kinda

A remaster of the game already exists as part of The Nathan Drake Collection.

The game received mostly positive reviews when it was released back in 2007 and the follow-up titles are also highly regarded by fans and critics alike. While there is talk of a new remake of the title, a remaster of the game already exists as Bluepoint Games remastered the game on PS4 for The Nathan Drake Collection which was launched in 2015.

The remaster of the game received several updates including the combat style, the animation and graphics were improved, and much more. The game is also playable on PS5 as it is backward compatible with PS4 so this might also make players wonder if there’s actually a need for another remake but it seems to be happening.

There have been several PS exclusive remakes in recent times all releasing every two years ever since the release of Shadow of the Beast in 2016 so if a remake for the game is happening, it can be expected to launch sometime in 2026 but it is purely speculation as of now.
