The Last of Us is in a league of its own amongst the PlayStation heavy hitters, the original game was released in 2013 for the PS3, and the sequel: The Last of Us Part 2 released in 2020. Gamers on PC are already expecting a port of some kind following the surge of support from other developers of PlayStation Studios, and the wait is nearly over.

PlayStation has made it clear that they are interested in venturing towards the PC space, and have been hard at work porting first-party exclusives like God of War, Days Gone, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves, and many more. It was only a matter of when and not if, The Last of Us Part 2 is probably their most controversial yet successful title and many wondered why it is taking too long for a PC port.

The Last Of Us Part 2 Remastered Is Coming To PC

The Last of Us Part 2 was hailed as Game of the Year during The Game Awards 2020.

The original game was remade for the PlayStation 5, and the trailer also included a PC announcement but no date was given. The Last of Us Part I was part of PlayStation’s initiative of invading the PC space, and if Sony was generous enough to offer up their biggest title so far, then it only makes sense to port its successor that’s even more successful.

The leaker known as Silknigth has gained some credibility after he claimed that the Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is coming to PC, and to no one’s surprise, he was right.

The Last of Us Part 2 is a massive game, and there was a clear demand that this is an experience that doesn’t deserve to be locked to just one platform. Naughty Dog already shared two Uncharted games and the first game, this could all be leading to a multiplatform focus for PlayStation moving forward by announcing PC ports with only a short waiting window unlike the earlier batch.

The End Of The Exclusive Games: Is This The Last Of Them?

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered was released on January 19, 2024 for the PlayStation 5.

Sony sees the value in their games and rather than keep them locked away in the vault with no plans of reusing them for remasters apart from what players received today, might as well make the most of them and let other platform users see what true triple-A gaming feels like.

An announcement is imminent but the source claims that no date is provided which is unusual and a loss for potential pre-orders.

The Last of Us going beyond PlayStation consoles is an inevitability, and not just in gaming but also in different formats like HBO’s The Last of Us which is getting a second season revolving around the events of Part 2. Fans begin to speculate the release on PC will coincide with the next season but the Silknigth played coy and it may come sooner. This initiative will give them more coverage over the market but the cost is losing exclusivity.

All bets are off once Sony has shown the willingness to share even their biggest titles, they are no longer interested in keeping their games for themselves and perhaps they come to realize it was passive-aggressive towards the gaming community, and a waste of assets.
