With a total of six films, a spin-off TV series, and its own games, Scream has become one of the most popular franchises. Starting with the 1996 film featuring stars like Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, and many others, the sixth installment in the series was announced soon after the release of the fifth film in the franchise. The 2022 film introduced some new characters in the series and featured how Sidney Prescott got entangled with Ghostface again.
Scream VI follows the survivors of the last film as they move to New York City. However, a new Ghostface killer soon starts haunting them again. While the film has received positive reviews, fans of the series still miss Sidney Prescott in the series. And with the alleged seventh part of the series, fans look forward to her comeback in the next film.

Scream 7 is Reportedly Under Development
The latest installment in the long-running horror slasher series Scream VI is expected to debut at $35 to $40 million at the box office. So far, Scream 3 holds the record for the biggest opener in the franchise. Given that, if the sixth installment successfully achieves the set target, it would be the biggest opener of the film series.
The film is set to release this week and seems like the studio is pretty confident about the film, as it is reportedly planning the next movie in the series, Scream 7. Reports suggest that the studio has already decided to continue the franchise with a seventh film.
Filming for the next movie in the franchise could start this year and as soon as they can. Reports also claimed that Paramount does not want to keep a long margin between Scream VI and Scream 7 and plans to follow the same release schedule as the last film in the franchise.
Scream (2022) served as a revival for the franchise, as it was released almost a decade after the 2011 film, Scream 4. Despite the years-long margin between the two films, the 2022 film in the series received a pretty good response. While fans are excited to follow up with the story, there is still one thing that disappoints them.
Scream VI would be the first film in the franchise that would not feature Neve Campbell, and fans have been pretty disappointed with her absence. However, with a seventh film allegedly under development, fans are expecting to see Neve Campbell return to the series.
Fans Expect Neve Campbell’s Return in Scream 7
During an interview with People, Neve Campbell shared that she was offered to be a part of Scream VI, but she denied it. She also shared her reason for not featuring in the latest film in the franchise. The Scream star shared that she did not find the offered amount “equated to the value” she brought to the franchise for 25 years.
With reports of Scream 7 in development, fans are expecting to see the Skyscraper actor’s return to the franchise. Many are even confident that the makers will bring her back, and the next film could also be the last installment in the franchise. Fans urged makers to bring Sydney Prescott back in the next series and give her a proper farewell.

The film continued without Sidney Prescott. Although nothing is confirmed yet, fans are expecting to see Campbell coming back in the next film in the franchise. And the screenwriter, Kevin Williamson, has also said that there is always room for Sidney Prescott to rejoin the Scream franchise.
“There’s always room for her to come back. You know, the door is wide open and if she ever wants to come play with us again, we’re here. [Neve] is a friend of mine. We stay in touch all the time.”
Not just fans but her co-stars also want her to return to the franchise. Jenna Ortega, who joined the franchise as Tara Carpenter with the 2022 film, is also disappointed that the Wild Things star will not be in the latest installment.
Scream VI is set to release on March 10, 2023.
