The first chapter of John Wick was released in 2014 and marked the beginning of a massive franchise, gaining millions of fans around the world. Each sequel was better than the previous one showcasing jaw-dropping action scenes, an immersive plot, and complex characters like Caine and Akira setting higher expectations for the franchise.
And with a fitting ending for John Wick: Chapter 4, the creators at Lionsgate Studios are back to the drawing board as they are keen on expanding the franchise. Apart from the Ballerina movie, and The Continental series, another movie is in development. After the massive success of the fourth sequel, Erica Lee confirmed in an interview that a new movie from the Wick-Verse has been in their plans.
Erica Lee’s Announcement for the Third Spin-off Movie
During an exclusive interview with Collider, Erica Lee stated how they enjoyed John Wick on the big screen and how the character inspired other action franchises, but the fourth chapter will be retiring Keanu Reeves’ ‘Baba Yaga.’ The producer added that she would do an announcement for a third spin-off film in the next month or so.
“There is another film that we’re developing that I think we’ll be announcing in the next, say, month or two. Then, I’m hopeful there’s a ‘Ballerina 2,’ and ‘John Wick 5,’ and lots of other things. But we’re developing a lot of stuff and having a lot of discussions with a lot of writers and brand management and Wick universe is my utmost priority.”
This quote from the producer has gone viral among the fans of the franchise, and fans are excitedly hoping the announcement would be about the promised battle between Akira and Caine, as they went on Twitter to express their excitement.
Fans Hope The Announcement would Feature ‘Caine vs Akira’
Erica Lee’s announcement for the third film has left the fans in excitement as the franchise has given birth to several amazing characters that make the audience appreciate them. Viewers who have watched the fourth chapter of the John Wick franchise would know, that it introduced new characters.
Moreover, each character present in the film are well-written and well-developed over the course of the film. But despite having so many characters, fans are in love with Caine and Akira, and they are hoping the third film will showcase a showdown between the two characters.

Rina Sawayama did a great job in the role of Akira because in the movie she had plenty of screen time, and fans want to see more of her. And a fan tweeted, that the should better be related to a spin-off movie for Akira.

Another fan tweeted, no matter what the announcement would be about, neither of the spin-off films would come close to John Wick: Chapter 4.

Even though these are just empty guesses until Erica Lee makes the announcement. But there is a pretty good chance that the producer’s announcement might be related to a possible showdown between Akira and Caine. As the end credits scene promises a duel between the two characters. However, these announcements would become crystal clear in the upcoming months as Erica Lee would officially give the announcement.
