Existing members, including PlayStation Visa and Sony Visa credit card holders, can accumulate points until the end of the year. However, all points must be redeemed by the last day of 2024, as after that date, the program’s website and app will no longer be available, and any unredeemed points will be lost.

The decision to close the program was communicated via the official website. The company stressed the importance of recovering unused digital codes and accessing your accounts to avoid losing earned benefits. If you have points left, it is recommended to redeem them as soon as possible.

With the end of Sony Rewards, current cardholders will be contacted by Comenity Bank about the changes. Despite the closure of the loyalty program, the credit cards will continue to function normally until they expire. This announcement comes shortly after Sony offered players 12 free months of PS Plus Premium with the PlayStation Visa card, a promotion ending in September 2024.

The flexibility and advantages offered by the program have contributed greatly to the loyalty of many customers, but its closure is nothing less than an opportunity to make way for new strategies that are more in line with consumer needs. Sony itself has hinted that news is coming.

Sony Rewards was a loyalty program developed by the company to reward its consumers. By purchasing items from Sony’s official store, members accumulated points that could be exchanged for discounts and various other items, such as gift cards and T-shirts. Every dollar spent in the store earned one point, with each point worth approximately one cent.

As already mentioned about the cards, it was also possible, besides direct purchases, to accumulate additional points on PlayStation Visa and Sony Visa credits. This was a valuable tool for members who wanted to maximize their points and even get more rewards.

The fact is that Sony is focused on ensuring a well-organized conclusion. This leaves us with the expectation of seeing how the company will maintain its competitiveness in the market, especially with the recent success of a former Xbox exclusive dominating the PlayStation charts.

By the way, it’s worth remembering that despite the end of Sony Rewards, the PlayStation Stars loyalty program will continue!
