Pokemon Go has launched its latest research tasks and fan reactions point to a lukewarm welcome. Long-time fans have been left disappointed with the task update and have taken to community forums to voice their displeasure.
Research tasks are good sources of resources and experience. They also keep players busy and engaged with the game. Some research tasks take a few minutes while some can take weeks or months.
One such task has made fans especially angry as its time-consuming nature has irked a large section of fans.
The Culprit Pokemon Go Research Task
While a number of Pokemon Go research tasks take a long time to be completed, none of them have faced quite the flak that this task is getting. One user pointed it out quite clearly on Reddit.
While the task in itself might look quite simple on the surface, anybody who knows about Kecleon in Pokemon Go will know how irritating this task can get. Fans have been quick to point out that the task is 10 while this player’s dashboard shows catch 5.
The chameleon-esque Pokemon is notoriously difficult to find with players playing from 2016 coming across only one so far. Now being tasked with catching 5 can be incredibly difficult. While this player has already gotten 2 Kecleons, getting 3 more will take quite some time.
With 981 upvotes already, it is quite clear that a lot of other Pokemon Go players feel the same with all of them feeling 5 Kecleons being too big of an ask.
Kecleon Can Be Quite a Bother
To find Kecleon in Pokemon Go, you will need to be extra vigilant. Kecleon can be found in random spawn points at some PokeStops. The only indication of the Pokemon being there will be its red zigzag mark. As it is invisible, its red mark is the only way to spot it in the environment.
So, on top of finding that invisible Pokemon, players are irritated about having to catch 5 of them as Kecleon is notoriously rare to find. But, some fans have been quick to defend the task stating that there are other notoriously time-consuming considerably worse research tasks.
As examples of other terrible research tasks, ‘Catch 15 Porygon’ and ‘Welcome Party’ were mentioned. But to be fair, Kecleon’s weird PokeStop spinning spawn mechanic and having to spot its ‘zigzag’ sign do raise its difficulty.
