Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disk DLC to Launch Next Month

SUMMARY

  • Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's two-part DLC is called The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero.
  • The second half of the expansion, The Indigo Disk, will be released on December 14.
  • It will include new features, areas, activities, and characters, along with returning Pokémon.

It is definitely a good time to be a Pokémon fan because its latest open-world role-playing video games are about to receive even more additional content. The DLC expansion pass for the Scarlet and Violet games, called The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, was set to be released in two separate parts. The first instalment of the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet expansion, called The Teal Mask, was released a couple of months ago in September, and the second half is just around the corner.

Although both the Scarlet and Violet versions of the open-world Pokémon game, along with the first half of its DLC expansion, did not get the best reviews, both by critics and players, one can never get enough of the extremely popular franchise. Which means that the second part of the expansion, called The Indigo Disk, is actually quite an anticipated release, with hopes of improving the overall experience of the video game.

The wait is almost over, though, because Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disk DLC expansion has an official launch date and will become playable next month in December.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet‘s second DLC instalment will take place in a different setting than The Teal Mask, as this time around, players will be taken to the Blueberry Academy, which is basically going to be a Pokémon school situated on an island right in the middle of the great blue ocean. Moreover, it was also confirmed that The Indigo Disk is also going to introduce brand new features, areas, and characters.

The upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC will also focus a lot more on aspects like battles and open areas in which players will be able to roam freely. The official X account of the franchise also revealed a new trailer in August, which showed that Area Zero would include the iconic and familiar starter Pokémon from the main series.

Aside from the release date for Scarlet and Violet‘s second DLC, it has also been confirmed that four new characters will be introduced in the upcoming half.

The four new Pokémon revealed for the expansion are:

  • Iron Crown is a Steel-type with a Psychic form. This is a Paradox form of a legendary creature called Cobalion, and players will come across it during a special event. It is also only available in the Violet version of the game.
  • Terapagos, whose type is still unknown, will have two forms: Normal and Terastal. This is the major introduction in The Indigo Disk, as it can transform into a massive turtle from a relatively harmless creature, with literally all of the types branded on its shell because it is obviously somehow linked to the Terastal phenomenon.
  • Archaludon is also a Steel-type but in Dragon form. It has no apparent ties to any legendary creatures but is the evolved version of Sword and Shield‘s Duraludon.
  • Raging Bolt is an Electric-type with a Dragon form. Similar to the first entry on the list, this is also a Paradox form of another legendary creature called Raikou and will only be available in the Scarlet version of the game.

Additionally, The Indigo Disk will mark the return of over 93 familiar characters from eight previous generations, including OGs such as Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. The upcoming DLC will also feature a lot more battles, a new Tera type, and much-needed features such as being able to actually ride and fly on top of Miraidon and Koraidon. Finally, the expansion will also have its own set of exclusive moves and additional activities.
