Amber Heard has been settling well in her new life in Madrid, Spain, after the settlement of the defamation lawsuit between her and her former husband Johnny Depp. After the verdict last June, where the Jury mostly sided with the Pirates of the Caribbean star, Heard initially wanted to appeal for a retrial.
However, thinking better of it, in December last year, they both settled, although she did have to pay almost a million more as a settlement fee to Depp. Allegedly the DC star couldn’t wait to leave the United States and start over with a fresh life in a new country as the trial had been hard on her.
And she was seen enjoying her life there recently as she posed for photos for the paparazzi many times. However, a troubling new update came from a local news outlet that claimed that even after crossing oceans and continents, trouble might be right on her door again as cops were seen visiting her house recently.
Amber Heard was visited by the national police
Although Amber Heard had seemingly been thriving in her new life in Madrid, the last couple of days seemed anything but. According to a local news outlet, Blast, the actress was visited by the national police recently.
Although no confirmations or information about what the visit was about have yet been disclosed, it seems it did not have much effect on her.
She was allegedly seen leaving her house shortly with an older man and going about her day and even smiling for the paparazzi as soon as she spotted them.
Now it is hard to say whether something serious is indeed going on with no official statements given, according to the news outlet, she looked quite concerned before she covered it up with a smile.
However, It will be interesting to see if anything more indeed is up with the actress just after months of her legal entanglements ending.
The Amber Heard vs Johnny Depp defamation trial
The story began way back in 2018 when after a messy divorce in 2017, Heard wrote an op-ed published by the Washington Post claiming herself to be a “public figure representing domestic abuse.”
Following the news taking the world by storm, Depp filed for a defamation lawsuit with Amber Heard filing a countersuit. The case came to a head last year with a six-week publicized trial being held at Fairfax County Circuit Court.
During the live trials, the world at large saw both parties accusing each other of violence and harassment on more than one level. Heard, in fact, accused Johnny Depp of conducting emotional, physical, and even s**ual abuse against her.
Although after scrutinizing evidence and witnesses, the Jury gave a verdict that mostly sided with Johnny Depp. Although the Aquaman actress wanted to appeal for a retrial, they both settled in December in favor of starting their new lives away from the drama.
Amber Heard especially, was allegedly in need of privacy, as a source close to her claimed, and Spain apparently had been providing her and her daughter Oonagh with that. Up until cops came calling on her doorstep yet again in her Madrid home.
About her return to America, though, that does not seem to be happening soon or if at all, as people claim the actress has moved across the pond permanently.
And although a friend of hers claimed that she is excited to start her career in Hollywood again, following the verdict of the defamation trial, her future in the industry seems to still be in jeopardy even with her reprising her role in Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom this December.
Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom is expected to release on December 20th, 2023.
