Powerpuff Girls: Alleged Leaked Script Is Weird & Features Lots of Sex

The Powerpuff Girls undoubtedly played a crucial role in shaping our childhood with its memorable characters: Bubbles, Blossoms, and Buttercup, alongside Professor Utonium and the evil Mojo Jojo. The animated series’ massive popularity made it a global phenomenon for its unparalleled humor and spot-on pop culture.

As a result, it was only natural that the show was lined up for a live-action adaptation. Picked up by CW last year in August, the show had cast Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. stars Chloe Bennett and Dove Cameron, as well as Yana Perrault as Blossoms, Bubbles, and Buttercup respectively. Produced for television by Heather Regnier and Diablo Cody (Finding Juno, Jennifer’s Body), Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden served as executive producers for the show. Interestingly, Craig McCracken, who was the original creator and director of the animated series was not involved in the process. Nonetheless, he was ‘curious’ to see the modern-era adaptation of the series under Berlanti’s guidance. However, if recent reports are to be believed, the pilot of the series was taken off-air for re-work after the script was leaked. If the script is to be believed, the live-action adaptation surely attracted a lot of attention for all the wrong reasons.

The modern take on the classic animated series was obviously expected to cater to teenagers and young adults considering that the Powerpuff Girls are supposedly in their twenties in the series. Disillusioned with their current life and resentful towards their past for losing their childhood to fighting crime, an extraordinary event was required to bring the band back together once again to save the world.

While the premise surely sounds promising, the reportedly leaked script hinted at something which would have surely made a lot of fans sign petitions to cancel the show for its over-indulgence in sex, adult content, and overall confusing setting. It’s normal to expect the heroes to have a few moments of intimacy with their partners, but including sex marathons, sharing each other’s private pictures, and walking on your sibling while sharing an intimate moment was surely a cheap trick to gain traction. Needless to say, The CW plugged the leak before more damage could be done. While it is still unsure if the sources are credible, but in case they are, be thankful that this travesty did not hit our television screens.
