The PS5 has a lot to offer, and games aren’t the only things that keep the console so successful and popular. The console’s customization options make sure that every player feels at home when they’re diving into their favorite hobby.
However, out of all the ways one can customize their experience, PS5 has been missing something quite important since its launch; even though players can choose how background themes work a certain way, those options have been limited. Going forward, that won’t be the case.
PS5 is finally getting more background and theme options
Whether you’re a new owner of a shiny PS5 or someone who’s been enjoying its vast library since its launch, PS5 wallpapers aren’t something that the community talks about too often. And, there’s a good reason for it. By default, the customization options have been limited to a bunch of solid colors or certain gradients, but that’s about it.
According to user PGTGamingNews on Twitter, this will no longer be the case. Going forward, PS5 users will receive more options to customize their home screen as they like, from a vast collection of wallpapers available to them from the settings.
Unfortunately, the only catch here is that his feature will be available to accounts from the US. At the time of writing, we can only hope that this feature is officially coming to all PS5 consoles across the globe.
Furthermore, it also looks like this will be limited to the Explore tab, and not on all screens. Still, one can hope!
Sony’s consoles aren’t shy when it comes to customization
From the replaceable console covers to a range of customization options for the home screen, the PS5 tries its best to be unique to every player. Even with a user’s PS account, the option to set a specific avatar, display name, and so on ensures that the overall experience feels right at home.
Moreover, the PS5 Pro will likely improve on this, giving players ample of options to choose how they go about their gaming experiences. In the past, thanks to services like PS Plus, players could acquire game-specific themes and backgrounds for their screen, and this has been somewhat absent from discussions in recent times.
With the arrival of the PlayStation console, Sony also introduced a variety of ways in which players could customize the way they could share their gameplay experiences with others. For instance, Activity Cards could help players track and pursue new goals within their favorite games. This accessibility feature is right by the home screen, improving on the existing UX.
