Amidst the formidable wilderness where Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Predator unfolded, an epic tale of resilience took shape both on and off-screen. The challenges of the treacherous location tested the mettle of both the crew and the indomitable Schwarzenegger himself. The unyielding weather conditions made even the hardiest among them feel queasy, yet they persevered, determined to craft a cinematic masterpiece.

Years have passed since its debut in 1987, and now Brandon Myles White and Hudson White, the owners of the renowned YouTube channel Buff Dudes, bestow upon Predator a prestigious accolade. As they declare it to be the “manliest movie of all time”, a title bestowed upon probably no other film in the entire history of cinema.

Buff Dudes Claims Predator to Be the Manliest Movie of All Time

During the Buff Dudes’ engaging conversation about the illustrious legacy of the Hercules franchise, the athletes delved into the realm of timeless greatness. They discussed iconic figures like Reg Park, Steve Reeves, and Lou Ferrigno, who carved their names in history as paragons of strength and fitness. And that’s when the seven-time Mr. Olympia champion Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s name entered the conversation. The duo then went to discuss one of his movies in particular and that was the 1987 marvel, called Predator, regarding the cast, they said,

“What happens when you take a seven-time Mr. Olympian, a Navy SEAL turn wrestler, a former NFL player, a p*rn star, a Vietnam vet, the writer of Lethal Weapon, and a dude who eats Green Berets for breakfast? You get 1987’s Predator.”

The cast indeed was legendary, from Arnold Schwarzenegger in the lead to Carl Weathers, Elpidia Carrillo, and Bill Duke all as the supporting characters, the film had every ingredient to become a success. And thus, as a result, was called the “manliest cast of all time and quite possibly the manliest movie of all time”, by the very impressed Buff Dudes.

Predator Was Not Easy to Shoot for Arnold Schwarzenegger and The Crew

While its testosterone-fueled narrative of a team of elites confronting an alien continues to captivate and thrill audiences, the challenges behind-the-scenes were equally demanding, if not more so, than those portrayed on screen. The movie was deemed to be one of the hardest for the cast and crew to bring to life, as they said it was “a survival story for all of us.”

The film’s location, although perfect for the setting of the movie, proved to be less than ideal for the cast and crew. The unpredictable temperatures and humidity took a toll on their health, leading to frequent bouts of sickness. Moreover, the treacherous terrains presented immense challenges, making it extremely arduous for the actors to execute stunts while prioritizing their own safety above all else.

It was far more difficult for Schwarzenegger, as the newly married actor found himself swimming in chilling cold waters amidst the Mexican jungle’s already low temperatures. Adding to the ordeal, he endured three weeks of being covered in pottery clay, serving as a substitute for mud, which left him feeling cold and damp as a result he had to drink schnapps as an extreme measure to protect himself from the drastic conditions.
