James Gunn (now DCU boss) had a wonderful run in the MCU with his cosmic adventure hit Guardians of the Galaxy. While a roaster of talents joined the franchise, Ralph Ineson who recently joined Marvel Studios as The Fantastic Four villain Galactus (per The Hollywood Reporter), had a minor role in Gunn’s MCU movie series.

Ineson who played Ravager Pilot in the first installment of Guardians of the Galaxy has an astounding legacy to his credit. The British actor has a long list of credits including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, Lord of Misrule, Dev Patel’s The Green Knight, and Robert Eggers’ acclaimed horror, The Witch starring Anya Taylor-Joy. The actor also appeared in Arkasha Stevenson’s recent horror, The First Omen.

Ineson is set to star alongside Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as her brother Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing. The Fantastic Four also stars Julia Garner as a female Silver Surfer— a humanoid alien with metallic skin previously used as Galactus’ pawn in the 2007 movie Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer where the cosmic villain also made an appearance. John Malkovich has also joined the ensemble cast alongside Paul Walter Hauser, their roles are still under wraps. Matt Shakman will helm the highly anticipated Marvel project.

Shakman who has WondaVision and Star Trek 4 to his credit will direct the upcoming MCU movie and the director has previously teased that the new The Fantastic Four will be different in many ways. “It’s different in so many ways,” Shakman told Collider.

“I wish I could be specific. I wish I could say more. But we are doing things very differently from a story standpoint, from an approach to the filmmaking standpoint, that really fits the material. I wish I could say more. I would love to, but I can’t. But I think it’s going to be unlike anything you’ve seen before, and certainly unlike anything at Marvel that you’ve seen before.”

The director further revealed his excitement for the project as he hailed the screenwriters. “Absolutely having a great time,” Shakman said adding “It’s a dream of mine to be able to work on that.”

“I’ve loved those characters since I was little. It’s such an awesome world to be in. The script is awesome, the characters are brilliant. I’m super excited. I’m obviously very happy now that the writers’ strike has resolved in such a good way, and we’re able to reunite with Josh Friedman, our amazing screenwriter. I’m really hoping for a fair and equitable resolution to the actors’ strike soon, too. Keeping our fingers crossed. But we’re going! We’re a snowball heading downhill. It’s awesome. It’s got a lot of momentum. It’s really fun.”

The Fantastic Four is expected to begin filming in summer 2024. As of now, the movie has been casting actors for different roles.
