One of the most memorable segments in WWE history was when Triple H’s feud against Randy Orton took a turn and the former wrestler blurred the lines between professional and personal choice. The two of them feud ahead of WrestleMania 25.

According to The Sportster, when Orton, at the age of 24, became the youngest World Heavyweight Champion in 2004, he was banished from the group by Triple H, who had formed an Evolution with Ric Flair with a vision to merge the past, present, and future of wrestling. Randy Orton was envisioned as the future of WWE. Triple H’s move to kick him out of the group because of his jealousy started the hatred between them.

The two met in the ring in 2009, where Orton attacked WWE Chairman at the time and Triple H’s father-in-law, Vince McMahon. His kids, Stephanie and Shane McMahon, also got involved, but Orton quickly eliminated them. Triple H did not get involved until Orton attacked the ‘unconscious’ Stephanie McMahon, who also happens to be Triple H’s wife.

In the video of the match that has resurfaced online, viewers can see Triple H handcuffed to the rope, and Orton made him look at him kissing his unconscious wife. Fans back then and today who have watched the clip to date question why such a bizarre thing was allowed to air on WWE, and they were quick to comment on Orton’s act.

A user called Orton an ‘Absolute menace’ with another noting, ‘Randy Orton is an absolute menace’, with another one writing that Orton was truly a menace in that era, adding that one didn’t want to mess with him or he’d come for you and your family.

Users online stated, ‘2009 Orton would make the devil look like a saint,’ with one of them writing that they remember watching this live as a kid and it’s one of the most insane things they’ve seen. They referred to the segment as legendary. X users mentioned that Heel Randy was on another level.

Randy Orton appeared on Logan Paul’s IMPAULSIVE podcast and expressed his view on Triple H’s leadership as Chief Creative Officer of WWE. The professional wrestler noted,

“Back in the day, you were missing birthdays, you were missing anniversaries, you were missing holidays, and there was no either way about it.” 

Orton explained that Triple H, being a father himself, understands the importance of family time, adding that it’s one thing that has changed. He mentioned that now there is leniency, and Triple H makes sure that the wrestlers do get to go home for the birth of their baby.

Orton praised Triple H for understanding how important it is for the wrestlers to be there for their families, especially during special days, and added that this change in the company has been for the better. He also shared that Triple H is a smart businessman, adding,

“I’ve kind of seen him evolve. He has three girls, and his oldest is just a few years older than mine, so we have that in common. I think recently, for him, because he had the health scare and everything, I think he realizes how important family time is.” 

Orton, however, said that when he met Triple H, he was one of the boys, and he’ll always be the same to him, which is why he thinks he can trust him and know that Triple H’s going to steer him in the right direction.
