The One Piece Day, which was celebrated from August 9 to August 11, 2024, has made some startling revelations about the upcoming goals and ambitions of the franchise as a whole. Within these goals, the one that fans have been waiting for the most is the One Piece anime remake by WIT Studios, which will follow Luffy’s adventure during the East Blue Saga.

The remake of the anime series was announced last year, and the showrunners have been releasing bits of information about the upcoming series. But the details revealed during the One Piece remake panel at the One Piece Day celebration have hyped up fans a lot. Interestingly, along with the information, a message from the One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda was also made public for the fans.
According to the message, Oda has given complete creative freedom to WIT Studio about how they would love to portray the story of Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates. The mangaka has kept himself from involving himself too much with the anime series by Toei Animation, and he will continue to do so with the remake as well.
The One Piece Day Gave Details About Netflix’s One Piece Anime
The One Piece anime remake was announced in December 2023 during the Jump Festa 2024. However, after the announcement of the remake, WIT Studio went silent and hardly made any major revelations about the series until The One Piece Day. The production team at WIT Studios shared a video that revealed concept art for the anime, featuring multiple scenes and characters.
Along with the concept art, the One Piece remake panel during the event also made the revelation about the directing team of the series.
The director of the series will be Masashi Koizuka, who is famously known for Attack on Titan. He will be followed by action animators Ken Imaizumi and Shuhei Fukuda, as well as the creature design and concept. Art will be handled by Yasuhiro Kajino.

While the release date of the series is yet to be announced, the concept art shown during the event has cleared that it is going to be completely different from the original One Piece anime. The only thing left to find out is whether the creators at WIT Studio will make changes in the script and story as well or not.
Eiichiro Oda Left A Message For WIT Studios’ Staff
During the panel, the creator of the series, Eiichiro Oda, decided to surprise the WIT Studios staff who will be handling the creation of the One Piece remake. The manga creator left a strong-willed and appreciative message emphasizing using their own style while working on the creative approach of the One Piece anime.

Oda stated:
Rather than reproducing the manga of One Piece, the anime staff should digest it and remake it in their own style. I want you all to express rather than copy and paste the work.
Oda has always believed that manga and anime are two different entities and they should be treated like one. This is why he hardly gets involved with the anime series being produced by Toei.
Additionally, granting creative freedom to the One Piece creators at WIT Studios might introduce something new in the series, which might startle fans. Thus, it is a great opportunity for the One Piece fans and the creators at WIT Studios.
