This article on the Prime Video series Reacher Season 2 Episode 4, “A Night at the Symphony,” contains spoilers.
The Reacher episode, “A Night at the Symphony,” is another satisfying one because we get some insight into the Reacher lore. For instance, the phrase “in an investigation, details matter” takes center stage, a canon to live by in the books and made famous in the freshman season pilot. The fourth episode utilizes flashbacks, providing memory-play storytelling.
This allows the titular character to analyze his past relationships, like Swan. The current group thinks he’s guilty, but Jack disagrees, saying he would never betray his friends or let his dog die. However, Neagley has a different memory.
“In an investigation, details matter,” says Dixon when doing an inventory of 48 bricks of heroin confiscated during one of the special investigator’s missions. Swan transported them, so Swan, Reacher, and Neagley searched his car. They find one brick under his back seat that must have fallen there. Reacher accepts the explanation, and Swan thinks nothing of it.
Neagley, on the other hand, looks suspicious in the MP’s memory. That doesn’t look good since they discover Swan is the New Age associate director of security.
Prime Video’s Reacher Season 2 Episode 4 Recap: Why Does A.M. kill the plastic surgeon?
A.M. murders the plastic surgeon because his aliases have been compromised. If you remember, Neagley (Maria Sten) found a list of eight names with the initials “A.M.” Andrew McBride is how we met A.M. the first time. The alias Reacher and Russo (Domenick Lombardozzi) discovered was Azhari Mahmoud. A.M. then found out the airport was under surveillance by local police.
So, the killer finds someone who looks just like him. We can assume the internet has pictures because his victim looks remarkably like A.M. At first, we think A.M. just wants surgery for a face change (the surgeon even questions the man’s intentions because he’s quite “handsome”). Our killer then leans in and slices his carotid arteries.
The assassin also murders the secretary and leaves as a sign that they are closed for the day. I’m not sure how well the scene plays, mainly because the identity will be useless in a day or two when the police discover the bodies. However, we can chalk this up to A.M. (Ferdinand Kingsley), who must figure out that desperate times call for desperate measures.
What’s the New Age project, “Little Wing?”
“Little Wing” is a nine-figure government defense contract won by New Age. The contract is four times as big as anything New Age has ever gotten. In the notes Reacher found in files stolen from New Age at the end of the last episode, Senator Lavoy ensured New Age the votes would be obtained. Lavoy also claimed the contract would have no trouble passing through the Senate.
Who is Senator Lavoy? An influential politician from Boston. The special investigators still have no idea what “Little Wing” is, and a senator is untouchable with his security detail. O’Donnell proposes a plan to blackmail Lavoy’s senior aide. Reacher (Alan Ritchson) sets the plan in motion, using Dixon as bait.
Dixon pretends to be a lost opera patron. She asks the aide for directions to her seat. The aide then offers his extra ticket to her since Dixon (Serinda Swan) looks like a knock-out in her little black dress. After the show, Dixon lures the man to her car. He begins to snort some cocaine. They then hear a knock on the window and the return of an old friend.

The knock on the window is Oscar Finlay (Malcolm Goodwin), Reacher’s old friend and associate from the first season. He’s now back in Boston, back on the force, apparently putting the demons of losing his wife behind him. Jack uses him to arrest the legislative director. Finlay brings the staffer back to the office where Jack and O’Donnell are waiting, pretending to be FBI agents.
They threaten to tell the director’s wife he was found with coke and a woman who doesn’t look like her if he tells them what “Little Wing” is. It turns out it’s software that can be scaled down from missiles to even handheld destructive devices. The software virtually has no countermeasure. So, if it locks onto its target, nothing can stop it.
It was passed through the government by carrying it on a 1,000 briefcase that everyone missed. Reacher says goodbye to Finlay. When they return to their hotel, they are jumped by a biker gang. The good guys win. Reacher even breaks someone’s arm with a headbutt. Langston (Robert Patrick) calls, and Reacher picks up.
The New Age head of security offers Reacher a bribe, but Jack refuses. Langston then asks Jack what he wants. He replies, “I want to throw you out of a helicopter.”
