Although the iconic duo has been silent for a long time ever since the end of GoT, they are now finally ready to talk about their future projects and recently opened up about their upcoming Netflix series, 3 Body Problem.

The creators of Game of Thrones are all set to make their comeback

David Benioff and Dan Weiss’ upcoming series, 3 Body Problem will be based on Liu Cixin’s Remembrance of Earth’s Past book trilogy which first came out in 2008 in China. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, D&D revealed how they came across the material and decided they were going to work on this. Netflix’s head of script, Peter Friedlander suggested the duo take a look at the books. Benioff said,

“We finished within 10 minutes of each other and Dan came over to my seat and said, ‘What do you think?’I said, ‘Well, that ending is amazing.’ And Dan says, ‘We’ve got to do this, right?’…It was the first thing we’d come across since Thrones where we were actually scared. We knew this is going to be hard.”

The murder of 3 Body Problem’s producer was inspired by Breaking Bad

The show faced many problems while still in the production stage but a very major blow came when a Chinese Billionaire and the producer of 3 Body Problem, Lin Qi was murdered in Shanghai back in 2020. According to a Chinese news outlet via THR, Lin Qi was murdered by an employee of his own company who was allegedly a huge fan of another Emmy-winning, crime drama series, Breaking Bad. According to THR,

“Benioff emailed the news report to Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan and wrote: “What have you done?”
