Actor Samuel L. Jackson, who plays Nick Fury in the upcoming Marvel project, Secret Invasion, previously explained that he ranks this project as number one out of all the projects he has starred in the MCU. During the global press event for Secret Invasion, he said,

“It ranks as number one in terms of things that I’ve done in the, you know, Marvel Cinematic Universe. I really loved Winter Soldier, so that tone, you know, flows into this in a very real kind of way. And it’s a story about people doing people stuff, you know, without, you know, all those supers coming in to save you and help you and doing all that other stuff.”

Just like Jackson, there are many Marvel fans out there who loved Anthony Russo’s 2014 hit Captain America: The Winter Soldier. On a budget of roughly $170 million, the movie grossed $714 million at the global box office.

The first official screening of Secret Invasion recently took place and it received lower ratings than other previous Marvel shows. The Rotten Tomatoes score is 67% as of now. The last Marvel show to receive poor ratings was 2022’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

However, the critics have only watched the first two episodes of the series, so it’s safe to say that the show still has the chance to prove itself. Jackson’s excitement clearly indicates that the show will not be disappointing.

Almost every Marvel fan knows Nick Fury, however, this show will put the spotlight particularly on the character. Jackson recently talked about the character,

“I don’t know, it’s kind of up and down for me in an interesting sort of way. Because, if I had it my way, I would’ve been in every Marvel movie, ’cause I mean; he is Nick Fury, he knows everything that’s going on. I’m still trying to figure out why I’ve never been to Wakanda. Feels like I’ve been playing him forever.”

The actor isn’t wrong as there were several instances where Nick Fury’s absence could be felt during major sequences. Secret Invasion will premiere on Disney+ on June 21, 2023.
