The director’s recent magnum opus starring Cillian Murphy managed to earn $946 million at the global box office, just short of $54 million for the billion-dollar mark. Well, it seems there’s a reason why Oppenheimer is getting re-released in IMAX theaters for another week.

Oppenheimer Is Getting Re-released For A Reason!

Being an iconic visionary director, it seems a surprising thing that Christopher Nolan’s films do not cross the $1 billion mark often. To date, Nolan’s two superhero films, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises are the only two movies of Nolan to have crossed the $1 billion mark.

As per a tweet, the 2023 movie is getting a re-release on IMAX screens for one more week and alleged that the reason for the re-release is to reach a certain milestone.

As intended, fans rallied around the director in the hopes of achieving the $1 billion mark.

Well, Cillian Murphy did portray the role of J. Robert Oppenheimer who was the real-life scientist responsible for creating the atomic bomb but, Oppenheimer is not a biopic. At least, according to director Christopher Nolan’s talks at the City University of New York event.

“Biopic is something that applies to a film that is not quite registering in a dramatic fashion. You don’t talk about ‘Laurence of Arabia’ as a biopic. You don’t talk about ‘Citizen Kane’ as a biopic. It’s an adventure film. It’s a film about somebody’s life. It’s not a useful genre the same way drama is not a useful genre. It doesn’t give you anything to hold onto.”

With a rating of 8.5/10 on IMDB and a whopping 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, Oppenheimer will be rereleased on 3rd November on select IMAX screens across the U.S. for people to see.
