Fans are getting glimpses of the bitter divorce between Rebecca Romijn and John Stamos through the latter’s memoir If You Would Have Told Me. It was a classic case of careers and ego getting in the way of their relationship, and both have since moved on to new partners. Romijn, now married to actor Jerry O’Connell, recently saw her ex-husband for the first time in 17 years and chose not to speak to him, because her hair was not looking good.
The X-Men actress made this confession during a conversation with her husband on The Talk, a show hosted by O’Connell. While her reason may seem surprising, O’Connell responded with humor, asking if she needed a hair blowout before meeting Stamos again.
Rebecca Romijn Didn’t Speak To John Stamos When She Saw Him After 17 Years
Rebecca Romijn joined her husband, Jerry O’Connell, on a Mother’s Day special episode of The Talk in 2022. During their conversation, O’Connell brought up the subject of her ex-husband, John Stamos. Romijn shared that their divorce was awful, but they also had their share of fun memories. When O’Connell asked if she had seen him since the divorce, Romijn disclosed that she had seen him very recently.
Romijn revealed that she spotted him at a traffic stop while she was picking up their twin daughters from school. The Star Trek: Discovery actress immediately recognized him and even pointed him out to her daughters. When they asked how she recognized him, Romijn explained that she could identify his gait from a block away. Romijn shared on The Talk (via ET Online):
“I finally saw him just a few weeks ago, the first time since we split up. I had the girls [their daughters] in the car. We were sitting in after-school traffic at a strip mall and I saw him. There he was, walking right in front of the car, cap pulled down, sunglasses on. I went, ‘There he is, girls.’ And they went, ‘Wait, how can you tell that’s him.’ I said, ‘Because I was with him for 10 years. I would recognize that gait from a block away. I recognize the way his body moves. I know that walk [and] I’m familiar with his body.”
However, when O’Connell asked her why she didn’t say hello, Romijn had a surprising response. She explained, “I didn’t think my hair looked good.” When the Stand by Me actor further jokingly asked if she wanted a blowout before meeting him, she replied, “Basically… Is that too much to ask?”. While she was uncertain about what to say to him, she told O’Connell that she didn’t want him there for the meet-up.
Rebecca Romijn’s Husband Hopes To Meet John Stamos
Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell share a home in Calabasas, California, a neighborhood that is also home to several celebrities. After marrying model Caitlin McHugh, John Stamos recently moved to the same area. When O’Connell appeared in an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the host asked him about the same. The Big Bang Theory actor was fanboying over the Full House actor, as he shared with Andy Cohen:
“I have not [seen him], but I make sure that my hair is perfect every day just in case I do. I am on the lookout. It would be super friendly if we did [see each other]. I do have to tell you. I probably won’t run into him because I shop at sort of discount supermarkets in our area. And there are some higher-end supermarkets that I’m sure [he goes to].”
However, the recent memoir from Stamos has stirred some controversies, as certain details may cast The Punisher actress in a bad light. The book revealed that the relationship was toxic, and the General Hospital actor often felt emasculated during their marriage.
