Australian actor Rebel Wilson is standing true to her name through her explosive memoir titled Rebel Rising. The celebrity has been in the hot seat recently for many bold claims that she has made in her book. The most controversial confession involves Sacha Baron Cohen who was accused by Wilson for his allegedly deplorable behavior towards her on set.
While Rebel Rising released in its entirety in the US, the Pitch Perfect star’s revelation about Cohen is coming back to bite her. According to latest information, the UK edition of Wilson’s memoir will be release with a redaction of the portions of the text related to the Borat actor, while the whole chapter relating to Cohen and other stars will face the same fate in the Australian version.
Rebel Wilson’s Book Will Release In the UK Only After This Edit
Rebel Wilson sent shockwaves through Hollywood with her bold statements about Sacha Baron Cohen in her memoir Rebel Rising. Apart from her candid confessions about her time in the industry, Wilson dedicated a chapter to certain undesirable experiences with a few co-stars.
In excerpts from the chapter (via People), the Australian celebrity called out The Dictator actor for his demeanor towards her on the sets of The Brothers Grimsby and his allegedly overbearing attitude that made her extremely uncomfortable. Stating a disturbing instance, she wrote,
“SBC summons me via a production assistant saying that I’m needed to film an additional scene. ‘Okay, well, we’re gonna film this extra scene,’ SBC says. Then he pulls his pants down … SBC says very matter-of-factly: ‘Okay, now I want you to stick your finger up my a**.’ And I’m like, ‘What?? … No!!’ …”
Wilson’s book was released without edits in the US, and her explosive revelations about Cohen hav now changed her fate drastically. According to a report on MSN, the book will now be released in the UK with the text pertaining to the British star redacted with a generic explanatory note. It states,
“due to the peculiarities of the law in England and Wales”.
In addition, a spokesperson from Harper Collins released a more detailed statement to this effect on BBC News (via MSN).
“We are publishing every page, but for legal reasons, in the UK edition, we are redacting most of one page with some other small redactions and an explanatory note. Those sections are a very small part of a much bigger story and we’re excited for readers to know Rebel’s story when the book is released.”
While Wilson is steadfast in her opinion that her voice must be heard, it seems that she still has to conquer these obstacles that stand in her way.
Rebel Wilson’s Memoir Is Suffering A Worse Fate In Her Home Country
Rebel Wilson’s tell-all memoir Rebel Rising is creating a lot of talking points since its release in the US. The biggest revelation that the actor has made is with regard to comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, who Wilson accused of indecent behavior towards her. Her comments on the British star is part of a chapter titled Sacha Baron Cohen and Other A**holes.
While the UK version of the book has redacted the portions relating to Cohen before the official release of the book, Wilson’s home country Australia has ironically taken an even firmer stance. The Guardian reports that the entire chapter will be redacted and will be printed as blacked out lines in the continent. A spokesperson from Harper Collins Australia confirmed this in a statement.
The book which was supposed to release in April in UK and Australia, has now been pushed to May to reportedly fit into Wilson’s press tours. Meanwhile, the actor also hinted through her Instagram stories (via The Guardian) that Cohen was reportedly trying to thwart the release of the memoir, and stated that she will not be silenced or bullied.
