Although Previously Thought to be a Remaster, it Now Seems as Though a Fully-fledged Red Dead Redemption Remake is on the Way

A Red Dead Redemption remake is long overdue, especially considering how it has been more than a decade since the original was released. Fans of the game have been constantly asking for it to be remade for years. But when their requests were not being addressed, they started to tweak Red Dead Redemption 2 by adding elements from the first game.

It is definitely a slippery slope because Rockstar Games doesn’t really have the best recent track record with recreations of their previous games. The Grand Theft Auto: Trilogy- The Definitive Edition was such a technical disaster that the gaming community is still skeptical about the Red Dead Redemption remake. Of course, that was bound to happen because three universally beloved OG GTA games were repackaged into a messy and buggy unit.

For some reason, the remasters ironically turned the games into something much worse than their original, two-decade-plus-old counterparts. However, people are reluctantly excited to get back to the Wild West in the Red Dead Redemption remake.

Well, fans collectively agree that if Rockstar is really going to develop a Red Dead Redemption remake, they better put the utmost care and love into the beloved classic. Fortunately, leaks around the anticipated project are pointing towards exactly that.

The Red Dead Redemption remake rumors were given new life because of a Reddit thread that sparked the conversation yet again. Titled “Red dead Redemption will be a remake not a remaster according to previous leaks,’ the thread credits “legitimate leakers” as a credible source. According to the post, these leakers have a “good track record” of providing reliable information about news related to Grand Theft Auto.

A now-deleted tweet was also part of this thread. It said that the remake of Red Dead Redemption will be developed using Red Dead Redemption 2‘s engine and technology. Although the removed tweet is from 2021 and the post mentions it, it could be just as false as it could be true.

Considering how universally loved the game is, it just feels inevitable that a Red Dead Redemption remake will come out sooner than we think.

The Red Dead Redemption remake was shelved sometime last year, but the rumors were ignited once again recently. The Korean ratings board basically rated Red Dead Redemption just last week, which is a phenomenon that only takes place when a game is submitted by a publisher ahead of release. Additionally, on his Sacred Symbols podcast, former IGN editor Colin Moriarty stated that he has seen proof of the rumored title.

He said that he “had someone reach out to” him from “behind the scenes” that gave him the confirmation about the game. Fans have every right to be excited because an official announcement about the Red Dead Redemption remake release date may be coming “in like August.” Finally, another rumor stated that Rockstar knew exactly how much the fans were demanding the Red Dead Redemption remake.

Considering how the LA Noire and GTA Trilogy announcements took place, there are hopes of the Red Dead Redemption remake also being announced and released within a month or two of each other.
