Apart from the thrilling matches at WWE, the wrestling industry has often made headlines for lacking female referees, until Jessika Carr made her debut in 2019 during SmackDown. Being the first full-time female referee, Carr has been working with WWE for a long time.
However, despite her unbiased judgment and help, she seems to lack her deserving credit. Take the recent example of WrestleMania 40 when a few fans noticed Jessica Carr helping Damian Priest during the Six-Pack Tag Team Ladder Match. Apparently, Carr saved Priest from a scary botch by informing him about his ladder. And yet, rarely anyone offered Carr the credit for helping.
Jessica Carr Went Unnoticed Despite Saving Damian Priest
Making her debut in 2019 during Friday Night SmackDown, Jessica Carr became WWE’s first full-time female referee. Ever since then she has been appearing during several matches and dedicating herself to the wrestling universe. However, despite her devotion to WWE and the wrestling industry, Carr seems to lack her deserving credit.
Considering the recent incident during WrestleMania 40, it seemed evident that female referees in WWE don’t get the credit they actually deserve. During the thrilling Six-Pack Tag Team Ladder Match, according to an image shared on X, Jessica Carr appeared to be helping Damian Priest by informing him about his ladder.

According to reports, the ladder that Damian Priest was using was actually broken, which if used could have led to serious injury. Therefore, Jessica Carr intervened at the right time and saved Priest from a scary botch. However, despite her help, Carr simply went unnoticed as all eyes were fixated on the match.
WrestleMania 40 Six-Pack Tag Team Ladder Match
Taking place between The Judgement Day (c) (Finn Balor and Damian Priest) vs. DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) vs. The Awesome Truth (The Miz and R-Truth) vs. The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) vs. A-Town Down Under (Austin Theory and Grayson Waller) vs. New Catch Republic (Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate), the Six-Pack Tag Team Ladder Match was indeed super exciting.
After it was clarified on commentary during the April 1st Raw via Inside The Ropes, that the match would continue until both sets of titles were unhooked, ladders were introduced almost immediately to be used as weapons. Further, during the match, Finn Balor and Damian Priest faced their greatest challenge as the champions defended the titles against the rest of the teams.
Therefore, at one point through the match during WrestleMania 40, The Awesome Truth and DIY teamed up to take out The Judgment Day, but A-Town Down Under members, Austin Theory and Grayson Waller put an end to that teamwork and scored the SmackDown Tag Team Championships. Later there was more chaos as fans witnessed Johnny Gargano spike Pete Dunne through the wood with a DDT.

Even Tommasso Ciampa brutalized Tyler Bate with an Air Raid Crash from the top of the ladder. In between all of this Damian Priest was spotted going for the remaining titles, but R-Truth exacted revenge and won the Raw Tag Team Championships. Despite trying hard to defend their titles, Finn Balor and Damian Priest’s time as champions came to an end after 173 days.
