Dino Crisis first stomped onto the scene 25 years ago. It is hard to believe that a quarter century has already passed as fans of the genre-bending survival horror still remember the unique premise of deadly dinosaurs instead of a horde of zombies in many Resident Evil games.

Instead of Resident Evil 5, or Code Veronica, Capcom needs to give fans Dino Crisis Remake. To celebrate the anniversary, what better gift could Capcom give fans than a surprising, Dino Crisis remake announcement or an even more daring and roaring, release date within 2024?

5. Deadly Dinosaurs Is a Far Better Premise than Zombies

Yes, Resident Evil is a highly successful franchise, but over time the entire hordes of zombies or mind-controling parasites can get a bit stale. This survival horror on the other hand replaces zombies and mutants with gigantic dinosaurs, breathing in a fresh, raw terror.

Unlike anything seen in modern gaming, these prehistoric predators are a completely new breed of terror. They would quickly leave players paralyzed with fear, as they fight for survival.

When the original Dino Crisis was released it became a critical and commercial success selling more than two million copies solely on PlayStation. A remake is poised to overrun those numbers even faster, considering how the legacy of the game has endured all these years.

4. Dino Crisis Remake Has a Chance to Improve Shortcomings of the Original

The original game drew praise for its graphics and intensity of gameplay, but it wasn’t without flaws. It wasn’t just compared to Resident Evil for a lack of originality, the repetitive environments, and a prevalence of velociraptors as main enemies left players feeling bored.

A remake is a golden opportunity to address these issues. It can add different dinosaurs, including Tyrannosaurus Rex, then Dilophosaurus, or even Stygimoloch among other possibilities.

The problem behind the lack of variety in the original game can be credited to the technological limitations of the era and why not Capcom give justice to the beloved concept.

3. RE Engine Dinosaurs is a Selling Point

Despite the listed drawbacks, the original survival horror game was still a pioneer of its time. The game ditched the pre-rendered backgrounds seen in Resident Evil and introduced the gamers to a real-time 3D world. This forward-thinking approach is just one of the reasons why it deserves a modern upgrade.

A remake of the game built in the RE Engine could be another revolution. While we have already seen modern games from Biohazard to Resident Evil 4 remake, this won’t be just a nostalgia trip, but it will build upon the success of the original bringing new, enhanced versions of the terrifying dinosaurs.

2. Regina is a Heroine Worthy of a Remake

With all the talk of a Code Veronica remake and the love for Claire Redfield, Regina is another iconic female hero who deserves modern treatment. A special forces soldier, she was a trained professional thrown into a battle for survival against relentless prehistoric enemies. Not many heroines are there in modern gaming, and Regina would be an awesome addition to such a limited list.

Dino Crisis Remake is a chance to reintroduce such a badass character to new generations, albeit in a completely new and improved way, both aesthetically and story-wise as the game can build upon the limitation of the original, introducing new locations and lore.

1. Dino Crisis Remake Can Lead Into New Series

The original game was a complete win for the company. The Japanese giant wanted to continue its success but the sequels didn’t quite manage the same level of success, particularly the third installment, which failed miserably.

The remake can be a blessing in disguise for both fans and Capcom. There is a chance for a new ending, as seen in previous remakes, like Resident Evil 3, and a reboot of the entire franchise can lead to a completely new game.

While this can be rendered as a bold approach, it isn’t just fan service as it can benefit Capcom and the entire franchise. Dinosaurs are still a popular topic in entertainment. The upcoming Jurassic World film starring Scarlet Johansson,  helmed by Gareth Edwards, the name behind Godzilla (2014), is proof that fans haven’t lost interest in prehistoric giants.

Even Capcom seems to be testing the waters with the release of Exoprimal in 2023. This exosuit-based action game could have been a way to gauge interest in the topic, before diving headfirst into a full-fledged Dino Crisis Remake.
