Zachary Levi’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods is almost here and fans are wondering whether or not it will be up to the mark for James Gunn to continue the series in his DC Universe. The movie already had a lot on stake and it could very easily establish Levi’s career as a superhero or break it.

The actor has tried extremely hard to make the movie its best alongside the cast. However, that may not be enough. The movie’s budget already led it to be too expensive in the making and perhaps there is a chance that it might not make any profit at all. Zachary Levi is hanging by a small thread at this point.

Zachary Levi’s Future In The DCU Looks Slim

Zachary Levi‘s Shazam! Fury of the Gods is already catching some unfortunate attention. The estimated domestic box office weekend earnings of the movie are said to be $35 Million. This will not benefit the movie at all as to break even the budget, the film would have to make a minimum of its predecessor’s total earnings. The increased budget of the sequel might pose a problem for the actors and the heroes involved in the movie.

The first movie was not that big of a success but its total budget had been only $80 Million. So its global box office earnings made it possible for Shazam! To be a hit despite its low earnings. This can easily jeopardize Zachary Levi’s superhero career and end it right as his second movie playing the character releases. Things may not be looking as good for the cast as the unpredictable time for the DCU is only posing to be problematic for the actors rather than securing their future in some other way.

Shazam! 2 Could Make As Much As Birds Of Prey During The Opening Weekend

Shazam! Fury of the Gods‘ opening weekend’s estimated earnings is the lowest so far for a superhero movie. The only other movie to be lower than this would be Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey. Robbie’s movie opened with a mere $33 Million for the opening week.

Other movies like Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman were both also met with unfortunate fates because of simultaneous streaming releases. The future for Zachary Levi as the lead character would purely depend on whether or not the audience decides to go watch the movie. If the movie does not do well then the character of Billy Batson and Captain Marvel will not make it into the DCU. However, if they are received well by the audience again, their stories could easily be woven into the franchise.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods will be available to watch in theatres from 17th March 2023.
