It has been more than a decade since Riot Games officially launched a video game that would change the world of gaming, and eSports in particular, forever. Initially released in 2009, League of Legends has been going stronger than ever, especially in 2023, due to the numerous high-profile events that the title basically headlined throughout the year.
There seems to be no stopping the extremely popular and long-running MOBA, and it appears that 2024 will be yet another stacked year for the game and its massive fanbase.
Earlier this month, Riot Games announced the full Patch Schedule for League of Legends, with each update divided all across next year as the community looks forward to the highly anticipated Season 14.
Riot Games Prepares for Season 14 With the League of Legends Patch Schedule
In a blog post on its official website, Riot Games revealed the entire Patch Schedule for League of Legends so that fans can mark the dates for everything new coming to the game next year. Players have been making the most out of Season 13 throughout 2023, but the developer and publisher knows that to continue the unmatched longevity and impact of its title, it has to keep going by bringing in fresh content and enough fixes to keep its player base engaged.
That is where the upcoming Season 14 will make its entrance, with scheduled patches starting in January and heading all the way into December 2024.
Fans of the long-running video game are probably familiar with the way that Riot Games handles its patches and updates, constantly trying to fix and improve numerous bugs and errors while also introducing new elements to the title to keep things fresh and interesting.
Keep in mind that the current League of Legends Patch Schedule for 2024 is still only the “planned” one and should be followed if all goes well, but you never know in the volatile gaming industry of today. The developer and publisher states that these “dates can change at any time for any number of reasons.”
Riot Games recommends keeping up to date with the Patch Schedule page and regularly checking it at least “a day or two before a patch to see if it’s moved.” The studio will also put “an alert at the top of” the page in situations where a delay is caused “within 48 hours of” a patch’s release date. League of Legends will receive its very first patch of the new year, 14.1, on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, with a varied number of patches allotted to each following month.
What to Expect From the Upcoming League of Legends Season 14?
As of right now, there are a total of 24 patches that Riot is planning to give LoL throughout the coming year. There will be two updates in January, including the aforementioned initial one, two in February, March, and April, and a whopping three in May, as the two patch trend continues after that until November. December will receive only one, the supposed final 2024 update for the game.
With Patch 14.1, it is expected that Riot will introduce the highly awaited Season 14 of LoL, and it is supposedly set to bring in plenty of new content for its player base. Firstly, it will make some much-needed changes to the map of the game, as Summoner’s Rift will apparently go through a huge revamp. This is not exactly a surprise due to how the developer and publisher has handled the rest of the previous seasons, but this time, the update will try to balance the battleground.
Along with the changes to the map, Riot is also making some modifications to the Void since it has not exactly been at the forefront of many of the past seasons. It will play a more prominent role in the upcoming LoL chapter, with planned changes to the entire jungle. As always, the game is not coming slow with its extensive list of item changes, and there is definitely a lot to keep track of.
Riot has been absolutely killing it so far with the LoL IP, and it looks like 2024 is going to be no different for the game’s further growth and success.
