Apart from this, it looks like the actor also shares the same kind of snark with Tony Stark because once he brutally roasted Scarlett Johansson during an interview. The punchline was so scandalous that everyone’s mouths were agape.
How Robert Downey Jr. Insulted Scarlett Johansson During An Interview
Robert Downey Jr. is generally known as a kind and helpful co-star. After all, who can forget how he was the one who campaigned to ensure that his co-stars were paid what they were worth. However, for all of his niceness, sometimes his savage side spews forth as well. Something similar happened during an interview on The Jimmy Kimmel Live! show.
Downey Jr. and his co-stars like Chris Hemsworth, Paul Rudd, and Scarlett Johansson were on the talk show to promote Avengers: Endgame. Jimmy Kimmel asked the Iron Man actor about the length of the film and things escalated hilariously from here.
Here’s how the conversation went:
Jimmy Kimmel: “3 hours and 2 min long film so you (Robert Downey Jr.) might only get to show it a couple of times.”
Scarlett Johansson: “Wait why would you show it a couple of times?”
Jimmy Kimmel: “Well he (Downey Jr.) said that he’s showing it on a loop.”
Scarlett Johansson: “Well that’s a long brunch.”
Robert Downey Jr.: “I mean we can fast forward through the dumb stuff.”
Scarlett Johansson: “What’s the dumb stuff.”
Robert Downey Jr.: “I dunno probably like you know your character arc.”
Scarlett Johansson: “What?! I will get back after this.”
Robert Downey Jr.: “I can’t wait for that.”
Fans couldn’t believe that the Oppenheimer actor had said that the character arc of the Black Widow star was dumb. However, everyone, including Johansson knew that the actor was just joking and didn’t mean it. Audiences were also glad that he pulled the joke because it made an otherwise run-of-the-mill interview interesting.
Will Robert Downey Jr. And Scarlett Johansson Return To The MCU Again?
In Avengers: Endgame, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow/ Natasha Romanoff and Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark/ Iron Man ended their MCU journey. Or did they? Both the characters were mourned in projects like Spider-Man: Far From Home, Black Widow, and Hawkeye. As such, it looks like the book is closed on Romanoff and Stark.
Also, Johansson recently confirmed in a podcast with her Marvel co-star Gwyneth Paltrow that she was done playing the character. As for Downey Jr., he hasn’t confirmed anything. But fans think that things could change.
Fans think that Avengers: Secret Wars, that’s rumored to include various versions of Marvel heroes, could feature multiversal variants of Black Widow and Iron Man. While the idea seems exciting, it remains to be seen whether it happens or not.
