And so, after years of waiting to see one of the most iconic villains of the entire Marvel-verse on screen, Marvel Studios recently announced that it is none other than Robert Downey Jr. who will be portraying Doctor Doom.

Despite the brilliant and shocking announcement at Comic-Con just days ago, RDJ’s Doctor Doom announcement was no less than a historical event for Marvel fans. Yet, it is not as iconic as Tom Hiddleston’s Loki announcement.

The MCU is full of some of the best fictional characters and character arcs, but most fans would gladly agree that Tom Hiddleston‘s Loki had the best trajectory in the entire franchise. First introduced in Avengers, fans saw Hiddleston’s Loki go from one of the most iconic villains to one of the greatest protagonists of all time.

While Hiddleston seems to be done for good now since Loki is now the Master of the Multiverse, the keeper of time, fans still continue to reminisce about his days in the franchise. After Robert Downey Jr. was announced as the next big villain of the MCU, Doctor Doom, during Comic-Con, several fans recalled the iconic Comic-Con event when Hiddleston was introduced at Hall H in 2013, during Thor: The Dark World panel.

An iconic event, fans believe Hiddleston’s introduction is and will always remain the best villain introduction of all time, even greater than RDJ’s Doctor Doom reveal. From the way the crowd cheered for him and the way they all went silent with a flick of his finger, there is perhaps no other villain in the MCU as Loki, who enjoys such a fan base, appeal, and popularity.

Fans Recall Tom Hiddleston’s Iconic Loki Reveal at Comic-Con

It was the year 2013 and Tom Hiddleston had already made an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Loki, the God of Mischief and the adopted brother of Thor. Yet, when he was revealed to have been brought back in Thor: The Dark World, fans went crazy.

Even Hiddleston described the event as shocking, hearing the audience chant Loki, Loki, Loki! and later going pin-drop silent with just a simple shush (via Empire Magazine/Kings Place). After RDJ’s reveal as Doctor Doom, a video of Hiddleston’s iconic Comic Con panel resurfaced on the internet and this is how fans reacted:

RDJ having portrayed one of the greatest heroes of all time, Iron Man, fans now look forward to an exciting new chapter filled with drama, conflict, and unforgettable cinematic moments.
