Deadpool & Wolverine introduced the concept of Anchor Beings in the Marvel Multiverse, showing us that Wolverine was the ‘Anchor Being’ for Fox’s X-Men Universe all along. Now, fans are wondering who is the Anchor Being for the MCU, and there might be more than one candidate that fits the bill.

Anchor Beings’ well-being is crucial for the timelines that they are in, and for a while, speculations have been that the MCU’s anchor being was most likely Iron Man. With jokes about the quality of the MCU declining in the wake of Endgame becoming more and more commonplace, it must be noted that there are a few other characters who have a potent chance at being anchor beings for the Sacred Timeline.

5. Kamala Khan

An anchor being in any given universe has been established as having a unique history that makes them so. Within a year of getting her powers, which essentially are hard light constructs, Iman Vellani‘s Kamala Khan has dealt with dimensions, hopping, time travel, and a threat from space, all of which point toward a very storied superhero career.

There is also the fact that she is a mutant, which has been largely absent from the mainline MCU. This, combined with the adventures that she has already had, makes her a candidate for being an anchor being, especially given her young age.

4. Thor

Thor has seen his fair share of troubles in the sacred timeline, and in a lot of ways, his story has mirrored that of the Wolverine. Given the troubles that the character has gone through, his being the anchor being of the Sacred Timeline makes a lot of sense.

Given the fact that Asgardians are among one of the most long-lived races in the MCU, Thor’s status as the Anchor Being for the Sacred Timeline could give the timeline an edge, such that not only is the character incredibly hardy to kill but as the monarch of Asgard, is one of the strongest beings in the Nine Realms.

3. Doctor Strange

In every other universe that we have seen a Strange in, he has turned evil or been killed off. The Doctor Strange that exists in the Sacred Timeline will probably not turn evil and is able to work against multiversal threats. Not to mention, as the former Sorcerer Supreme, the character has an interesting history that could merit him being crafted into the Anchor Being for The Sacred Timeline. From his sacrifices in the time loop against Dormamu to fighting his evil self, Strange has always been a selfless being, worthy of being the Anchor Being if there ever was one.

2. Spider-Man

Tom Holland

There has been a lot of meta-narrative context for this pick in the list. There has been a slew of rumors that Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man will not only lead the Avengers but also serve as The Sacred Timeline’s anchor being.

However, despite these rumors, there is still the fact that Marvel is planning to share the rights for the characters with Sony, and making Peter the anchor being of the Sacred Timeline might give the company more leverage than what Disney is comfortable with. Given the sacrifices that he has made, it would make perfect sense for the character to be the Anchor Being of the Sacred Timeline.

1. Steve Rogers

Stever Rogers might no longer be Captain America, but he has definitely had a very interesting life. If the anchor being is not Tony Stark, then it makes complete sense for it to be Steve Rogers. Canonically, the character does not seem to be dead and could be the reason he was not persecuted by the TVA for making changes to the timeline by staying back with Peggy Carter. The character is as embedded in the Sacred Timeline as Logan was in Fox’s X-Men Universe, with how spread out the character’s exploits have been across the timeline.
