With Reigns announcing the great family rivalry match with his cousin Johnson being his demand as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Johnson was there to share the story of their shared heritage. This was when Cody Rhodes jumped into the mix and trashed talked about their family tree, which caused The Rock to retaliate, and now, it seems like Johnson is on Reigns’ side.

It’s been a hell of a ride for the WWE Universe to witness the recent developments that have been taking place in the ring as WrestleMania XL is just a couple of weeks away. Thus, with the return of Dwayne Johnson as The Rock in the sport earlier this year, the opportunity was ripe to make the much-anticipated family feud between The Rock and Roman Reigns one of the main attractions of the upcoming PPV event.

And just when Reigns and Johnson were on their way to make it official, Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes came in and declared that he was claiming his rightful shot at the WWE Universal Championship at the grandest stage of them all as the winner of the 2024 Royal Rumble.

But Reigns, being the Head of the Table, called BS on Rhodes’ claims, also talking smack about his WWE Hall of Fame father Dustin Rhodes. Annoyed, he fired back at him, disrespecting his Anoa’i heritage (via SportsKeeda).

In light of this, the Baywatch star, who is also related to Reigns, took offense at his heritage being disrespected and slapped Rhodes in the process. This caused a commotion in the event, at the end of which both Reigns and The Rock exchanged hugs of brotherhood with each other. Thus, with The Rock’s return to SmackDown today, the Universal Champion posted on his Instagram, giving a shoutout to Johnson and how both will be appearing on tonight’s episode.

As things stand, it seems like Johnson may very well be turning heel in the face of the public, which in the end, will be the best for business.

What Does This Development Mean?

With a slap to Rhodes and a hug to Reigns with Seth Rollins, another superstar who has bad blood with The Rock, present when all these events transpired, there is a lot of potential that can be explored.

With Johnson turning heel right in front of our eyes and having this temporary truce and alliance with Reigns as well as Rhodes and Rollins having beef with the two cousins, we can be looking at a potential TagTeam Match between these individuals.

If not, then these four wrestlers can duke it out at WrestleMania on two separate matches, one containing Johnson and Rollins, and the other one having Rhodes fighting Reigns for the Universal Championship.

RAW and SmackDown, streaming on the WWE Network.
