One Piece is a masterpiece that has been ongoing for over two decades. The series has accumulated a fanbase of millions. One of the most loved characters is Roronoa Zoro, the vice-captain of Strawhats. However, since the start of the story, his addictive smile has vanished, and Luffy might be the reason why he does not laugh anymore in One Piece.
When the series started, Zoro was a very open character and used to laugh a lot; however, throughout the story’s progression, he does not lament anymore; his loudness has vanished. There might be several reasons for this, but the most prominent is definitely due to the captain of Strawhats, Monkey D. Luffy.
Why Does Roronoa Zoa not laugh anymore in One Piece?
As we all know, Zoro has pledged his loyalty to Luffy and would not hesitate to lay down his life for a second. His loyalty is so strong that he would kill anyone if they appeared to be a threat to Luffy and his dreams.
At the story’s beginning, when this nerve-racking adventure of Strawhats was starting, Zoro would always laugh loudly. However, as seen in the latest episodes or chapters, he no longer laughs.
Several reasons might have caused him to turn out like this, and the most accurate one is due to Luffy. It all began in Thriller Bark, where Kuma showed Zoro the pain Luffy had gone through.
Zoro, being a loyal person, might have blamed himself for not being able to share this pain with his captain and for forcing him to go through all of this alone.
Another major incident that took his laugh away was when Mihawk told Zoro what had happened to Luffy in Marineford. These two incidents might have been the reason for the disappearance of his fantastic smile.
Will he ever start to laugh again as he used to in the beginning of One Piece?
From what we are currently witnessing, it looks like an infrequent case that he can return to his previous self again. The challenges the crew faces are something that only some can handle.
Also, ever since Mihawak handed Zoro the most embarrassing defeat, he has dedicated his life to a rematch and victory against him.
Now that Luffy has defeated Kaido, the challenges they will face in the future will be a lot more complex, and Zoro will focus on that.
However, it is essential to mention that he still smiles occasionally, and one example is when he sees Luffy after a long time in the Wano arc.
