Unfortunately for Tom Cruise, this loyalty has made some other actors turn against him. Russell Crowe feels this way because of how Cruise treated his ex-wife, Nicole Kidman.
For instance, during the filming of the 2017 reboot of The Mummy, there were rumors that Russell Crowe found it hard to work with Tom Cruise, possibly due to Cruise’s history with Nicole Kidman.
A source said (via The Daily Mail):
“He hasn’t been able to stand Tom for years. Russell is a loyal guy and never forgave Tom for the way he treated Nicole…If they’d stayed friends, he would’ve felt he was betraying Nic, so he froze Tom out of his life.”
Interestingly, Crowe and Kidman share a longstanding friendship, with the actress revealing that they initially met in a suburb in Australia, where Crowe attended one of her gatherings.
Nicole Kidman told Vanity Fair:
“I attempted to cook paella. And I didn’t cook the rice, so it was crunchy. Not good. Throw it out, bring out the beer.”
Considering the history between the two, it’s possible that Crowe might feel compelled to uphold a sense of allegiance toward Tom Cruise.
Justin Beiber Wanted To Fight Tom Cruise
One of the most surprising celebrity rivalries involves Justin Bieber and Tom Cruise. Bieber’s one-sided and bizarre approach to Cruise was evident in a public tweet challenging the action star to a physical fight.
Justin Beiber tweeted:
“I wanna challenge Tom Cruise to fight in the octagon. Tom if you don’t take this fight your [sic] scared and you will never live it down. Who is willing to put on the fight?”
However, in a statement to TMZ, Bieber claimed he was simply joking when he first tweeted about the fight. During his appearance on the Carpool Karaoke segment with James Corden on The Late Late Show, Justin Bieber was asked about his challenge to Tom Cruise. In response, the singer admitted that he was just being silly.
