Following the release of the new bundle known as The Unheard Edition, the Escape from Tarkov community has taken a stand against the game’s studio, accusing them of selling a dreadful PvE mode. This edition costs $250, and only their owners can access the new mode, which has broken NPCs and simply doesn’t work.
Fans on Reddit are furious after seeing the latest answers from an unpublished interview with the COO of Battlestate Games, Nikita Buyanov, director of the title. The statement seemingly shows that the studio doesn’t care if the game loses more than half of its player base.
The Escape From Tarkov Community Will Presumably Not Return to the Game
The hardcore FPS players are about to abandon one of the few games that offers its own ecosystem. Escape from Tarkov mixes realistic gameplay with survival features. This game makes the player aware of every aspect of their weapon; this IP has the most complex and complete weapon customization.
Aside from that, it also makes the player very careful about its life and gear, because once you die, you lose everything and have to start over. One of the most peculiar aspects of the game is its exclusive availability on the official game website, not on any gaming platforms such as Steam or Epic.
In the latest edition that the title released, fans were shocked by the high price. The Unheard Edition costs $250 and is the only way to gain access to the new PvE mode, which has other kinds of progression that have nothing to do with the main game.
The Studio Seemingly Isn’t Going to Fix the Issues With the Unheard Edition
A Reddit post that leaked about an unpublished interview with the studio’s COO, Buyanov, shows how the studio wants to handle this overwhelmingly negative reception for this edition.
The director of Battlestate Games doesn’t seem to be concerned about the negative feedback from fans regarding this new content. One of the questions was about players leaving for other games, to which Buyanov just answered, “Let them change the side.”
For obvious reasons, every fan and Subreddit user who saw this interview is completely angry with the studio, especially with Buyanov, who shows no kind of remorse. A Reddit user said, “It’s ridiculous; how can anyone ever trust them to develop the game with shitty decision after shitty decision stacked on top of each other?”
So, for the few players who are still playing Escape from Tarkov, this will end badly. The remaining community will flee to other similar titles that offer better community support; this is a fair example of how not to do things with any live-service title. The studio puts itself at unnecessary risk.
In the next few months, if this is not solved, the game will probably be dead for good, and the last players will just drop the title entirely. The decisions are bad and make no sense.
