Steve Carell Reveals the One Annoying Thing About Ryan Gosling

Steve Carell recently attended the SBIFF fundraising dinner, where he honored his Crazy, Stupid, Love co-star, Ryan Gosling. During the event, Carell gave a speech and shared an anecdote about his time working with Gosling. The Office star shared that he and Gosling had finished a week of filming on one of their projects. However, before leaving to spend the weekend they briefly discussed their weekend plans.

Carell stated that while he planned on spending his weekend with his family, Gosling had a gig with his band at a senior center in Glendale.

“He was going to spend his Friday night playing music for some old folks. In Glendale? Yeah. Isn’t that just adorable?”

Carell continued by revealing that he was surprised by Gosling’s modesty about the gig. Carell stated that most other movie stars would have publicized the gig by sharing it on a talk show or monetized it in some way. However, Gosling wanted to perform for the senior citizens at the center to make them happy.

“He did it just to make some old folks happy, and I find that annoying as hell.”

Ryan Gosling Honored With Kirk Douglas Award

On January 13, 2024, the Santa Barbara International Film Festival organized a fundraiser. During the event, Gosling was honored with the 16th Annual Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film. The award is presented in honor of legendary actor and filmmaker Kirk Douglas. Douglas sadly passed away in February 2020, aged 103.

“Ryan Gosling has long been both a dramatic and comedic force in front of the camera. This year, thanks to his universally hailed, triumphant performance as Ken in ‘Barbie’ – a film that truly demanded the attention of critics and moviegoers around the world – he has become a true cinematic powerhouse.”

Executive director Roger Durling shared the above in a statement that announced Gosling as a recipient of the Kirk Douglas Award. Gosling became the second person to receive the prestigious award after Douglas’ passing. The Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film was started in 2006 and is awarded to those with a lifelong contribution to cinema.
