The ongoing WGA and SAG strikes halted exciting news about Marvel Studios’ productions. This news has become the most exciting thing and is seemingly making waves on the internet these days. The news is about Marvel’s Deadpool 3, in which Cassandra Nova will allegedly serve as the main villain in the film.
Cassandra Nova is the evil twin of Professor Charles Francis Xavier, also known as Professor X – a member of a subspecies called mutants, born with unique abilities. He’s an incredibly strong telepath who can read and manipulate people’s minds and is the leader of the X-Men.
Emma Corrin Will Play Cassandra Nova in Deadpool 3
Earlier, Emma Corrin was reported to play Mrs. Alternity, a manager at Time Variance Authority, in Deadpool 3. Now, it seems like she’s ready to play Cassandra Nova. In an interview, Corrin said that she is “really excited” to play a negative role because it’s something new, and she wants to try it. She said: “I feel really excited to play a villain.”
Corrin added: “I haven’t done that, and it’s an itch I want to scratch.”
She was cast in the film after director Shawn Levy saw them (Emma Corrin) on stage in a production of Virginia Woolf’s Orlando last year, though the reason for the meeting was kept strictly under the hats.
“I’d heard about the project but, classic Marvel, they couldn’t tell me anything about it. Absolutely nothing. Zilch,” recalls Corrin. “So I met him being like, ‘I don’t know what this is about.’”
In Marvel comics, Cassandra Nova is a character linked to the X-Men series. Created by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely, she first appeared in New X-Men #114 in 2001. She’s a psychic entity and the twin sister of Charles Xavier, also known as Professor X, who founded the X-Men. Initially believed to have died in the womb when Charles Xavier’s attempted to kill her using her telepathic powers, but Cassandra’s consciousness survived and gained a physical form in the astral plane.
Deadpool 3 Will Bring the Magic to the MCU Again
The movie is directed by Shawn Levy. In the movie, Ryan Reynolds will return as Wade Wilson/Deadpool, joined by Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Leslie Uggams will return as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle, Stefan Kapičić as Piotr Rasputin/Colossus, Rob Delaney as Peter, Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio, and Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead. Additionally, the newcomers include Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen. The script is written by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, Reynolds, and Levy. During filming, an image revealed Ryan Reynolds in the Deadpool costume for Deadpool 3.
The casting of Deadpool 3 says it all and hints at where the story’s direction is going. Along with Cassandra Nova, Charles Xavier, and Magneto might also play big roles. Deadpool 3 seems like it will celebrate the X-Men franchise as it enters the MCU, which will introduce mutants to the MCU for the first time. The release date of Deadpool 3 has been shifted from November 8, 2024, to May 3, 2024.
