Heartbreaks are seldom easy to shake off and a failed marriage is even more of a tragedy to bear. So, it’s only natural that Ryan Reynolds was crestfallen, to say the least, after he got out of a three-year-long marriage with Scarlett Johansson. But perhaps nobody could’ve anticipated the extent of his misery because the Deadpool star had been so devastated after his divorce that he’d sworn off marriage altogether. That is, of course, until his current wife swept him off his feet and picked him from the depths of despair.

And before you knew it, the two were engaged come May 2008, thanks to their instant chemistry which convinced them to take a leap of faith. In less than five months after that, the pair tied the knot in a private wedding ceremony held in Vancouver, gearing up for their happily ever after. Both Reynolds and ScarJo are two of Hollywood’s A-listers with bustling careers and jam-packed schedules, and that is exactly what ended up causing a rift between them. They barely saw each other and found it increasingly difficult to take time out for the other person. So, when cracks started to show in their relationship owing to the same, the now ex-couple decided to call it quits in 2011 before things got any more stale.

However, just because their divorce was a mutual decision, it didn’t mean it was any less agonizing. “Anyone who gets divorced goes through a lot of pain, but you come out of it. I’m not out of it yet. At all,” the Red Notice star admitted. “I don’t think I want to get married again…But you always re-evaluate these things.” And re-evaluate he did.
