Tom Arnold, who starred with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1994 action comedy True Lies and the most recent Nick Santora-created Netflix series FUBAR, was once insulted by Ryan Reynolds. When the MCU star became People Magazine’s Sexiest Men Alive, he joked that his abs and muscular physique reflected on the cover of the magazine vanishes when he breaths out. Adding that he looks like Arnold he breathes out.“Well, no, I was just joking around, I don’t know why it popped into my head,” Reynolds said on Late Night With Conan O’Brien.

When Reynolds went home in Los Angeles after the show and “walk into my apartment building right through the lobby and who’s standing there but Tom Arnold.” Reynolds instantly apologized, “Tom, I’m so sorry I don’t know why you popped in my head I was talking about you earlier and you just popped into my head.”

“He’s like such a great he’s such a great guy. I know him anyway. I mean, he’s a nice guy, such a sport such a sweetheart, just lost 50 pounds, and that little like verbal judo move just and negated all his hard work and uh and then uh and then so I went up and I’m feeling just like friggin awful right and I go up to my apartment and I order up a really nice bottle of champagne and send it to him”

But, Reynolds’ gesture backfired as the very next day Arnold appeared in the Free Guy star’s lobby to say, “Ryan, you must be the only guy in the United States that doesn’t know I’m a recovering alcoholic.” Reynolds felt really bad after humiliating Aronld on television and tried to be a good guy but it was not really working.

Real Reasons Why  Ryan Reynolds Has Been Funny

Reynolds has been funny most of his life but there’s a reason for it. His satire and humor work like an antidote to his anxiety. The actor has been candid about revealing his anxiety and how he deals with it. In an interview with The New York Times, the Red Notice star revealed that humor is the only weapon he uses to cope with nervousness.

“I have anxiety, I’ve always had anxiety. Both in the lighthearted ‘I’m anxious about this’ kind of thing, and I’ve been to the depths of the darker end of the spectrum, which is not fun,” Reynolds said.

The extremity of the actor’s anxiety is severe as he revealed that the nervousness provokes dreadfulness and sometimes he feels like the end of everything. However, the actor found the much-needed treatment for depression as he keeps on experimenting with humor and ways to laugh more. “I turn on this knucklehead, and he kind of takes over and goes away again once I walk off set,” he said.

The actor also uses a meditation app Headspace, he told Times, and does not care to crack a joke at his own expense. Further, the Deadpool franchise has helped the actor to a great extent to deal with his anxiety.

Reynolds will reprise the role of Wade Wilson in Deadpool 3, scheduled for release on  3 May 2024.
