As IGN first reported, legendary voiceover actor Kevin Conroy was expected to appear in two upcoming DC animated projects. Fans were delighted with the news as the actor didn’t receive a ceremonious goodbye for his legacy. Conroy last voiced Batman in the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League video game series.

However, fans were far from rejoicing it. With the recent report, there was a glimmer of hope for fans to witness the actor one last time. However, it was soon shattered. Debunking the rumor on AnimeSuperhero.com Forum, Bruce Timm revealed that Conroy’s rumor of him appearing in Batman: Caped Crusader is not true.

“Kevin Conroy did not record a voice for Caped Crusader. We were hoping to have him do a voice for the new show (and he was eager to do it) but sadly he passed away before we could make it happen. As I have to do every so often, I will remind you all once again to take all un-sourced ‘news’ items in the sci-fi/comics/entertainment cybersphere with a huge grain of salt. Occasionally these ‘leaks‘ actually turn out to be true, but often as not they’re just cynical clickbait.”

Of course, he was expected to record his voice for Batman one last time, but his untimely demise has altered all the plans. Conroy was diagnosed with intestinal cancer and passed away on November 10, 2022, when he was 66.

The IGN report was speculative about Conroy voicing Batman or any undisclosed character. However, a source confirmed to the outlet that he will appear in the Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths trilogy. Fans were not happy with the unceremonious conclusion of the career and legacy of Conroy as Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League marked his final voice for a character.

One of the two Conroy updates got the official confirmation, but the other is still on the card. Timm was not aware of Conroy’s voicing in the Infinite Earths trilogy. “I have no idea if the Crisis part of IGN’s supposed scoop is true or not,” he said at the forum.

The outlet further confirmed that Conroy will indeed play Batman in the Crisis on Infinite Earths trilogy from Batman: The Animated Series. While the first part of the series directed by Jeff Wamester has already been released it would be exciting to witness the remaining parts, or especially, Conroy voicing for Batman in the third part if the news is true. Also, it would be something for fans to rejoice and celebrate the legacy of the actor and his long tenure as the voice behind Batman.
