Sam Lake, the Creative Director at Remedy, who plays Alex Casey, posted a picture from the sets of a motion capture for the DLC. Remedy confirmed two DLCs coming to Alan Wake 2: Night Springs, which will be released first, and Lake House.
Lake mentioned the capture was completed for an upcoming DLC, but what could be concerning was him mentioning that the wrap-up was done for the last time for him as an actor in the Alan Wake sequel. Several fans responded with excitement over the DLC shoot being finalized, which brings the release date closer.
Sam Lake Posts an Au Revoir to His Acting Gig in Alan Wake 2
Sam Lake posed for a picture after wrapping up motion capture for an upcoming DLC for Alan Wake 2, and the post on X received over 150 replies, with fans thanking him for the brilliant work. The sequel to the horror game garnered high ratings from both critics and fans.
The sequel was released back in October last year and sold well over a million units collectively on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S consoles, and PCs.
Strike a T-pose! It’s a wrap for me as an actor in Alan Wake 2. My final DLC pickup motion capture shoot done. What a ride it has been. @alanwake @remedygames @EpicPublishing pic.twitter.com/wupPwTVYNC

The DLCs for the sequel were announced and confirmed earlier this year, and the first of those, Night Springs, was expected to come out in late spring 2024. While no official date has been announced thus far, fans are now hoping for the DLC details to come out soon after Lake’s motion capture has wrapped up.
There are, of course, no other updates regarding voice acting and motion captures for all the other returning characters, including the protagonist, Alan Wake, voiced by Matthew Porretta. While fans are certainly glad to get the update from Lake, it certainly also brings up a concerning question about whether it’s an official end to his character in the franchise.
Lake Seemingly Confirms Alex Casey’s End in the Franchise
Lake’s post hints that Detective Casey and Co. could be in for a troubling fate and if he will even survive the DLC. Lake seemingly posted his goodbye with the message, “What a ride it has been.” On the 1st of January this year, Lake posted a message recalling 2023, calling it a “rollercoaster ride” and saying that he was exhausted.
Whether or not Alex Casey and Saga Anderson survive the DLC wouldn’t be answered until it came out, but the idea that Lake could be hanging up the acting boots also sounds far-fetched. It could very well be that the context was within Alan Wake 2 and that he could still return for a third title in the franchise.
The sequel’s second DLC, Lake House, is said to showcase how the world of Alan Wake is connected to Control and is bound to take the story to a whole new angle. The first DLC, Night Springs, will also reportedly feature a plethora of Easter Egg references to Control and other Remedy titles.
Fans will now hope they don’t see the last of Sam Lake in the upcoming DLCs for the sequel.
