Samuel L Jackson is left confused after Thomas Bezucha’s departure

During the promotional interview with Collider, Samuel L Jackson humorously recounted the incident, stating,

“Interestingly enough when I first started Secret Invasion, Ali [Selim] was one of two directors. And I met with him (Selim) and then I met with the other director, and the next day the other director (Bezucha) had quit.”

And chiming in with her sense of humor, Olivia Colman, Jackson’s co-star in the series, playfully suggested that Jackson might have scared off Bezucha away. To which Jackson replied,

“I had no idea what I said to him. I asked my assistant, ‘Did I say something that scared him or what?'”

However, in hindsight, Jackson expressed gratitude for the outcome, as having a single director provided consistency of vision for the show. Selim’s involvement in directing all the episodes allowed him to shape the series according to his desired concept, while still incorporating input from the cast. Jackson emphasized the significance of this consistency and the opportunity to create a continuous and constant narrative for Secret Invasion.

How can Ali Selim as a sole director impact the future of MCU?

The upcoming live-action series, Secret Invasion, joins the ranks of other successful Marvel Disney+ series, such as WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki, which were helmed by directors Matt Shakman, Kate Herron, and Kari Skogland, respectively. While Herron will not return for the second season of Loki and Shakman has moved on to direct the upcoming Fantastic Four film, Selim stands as the sole director for a live-action MCU Disney+ series.

With an ambitious caste, the series will answer several fan questions, specifically related to Nick Fury’s absence from various important events.
