Sandra Bullock has never been a fan of filming intimate scenes on-screen, but who can blame her? Accidentally witnessing your co-star’s private parts while shooting a movie as a result of a major mishap would probably end up scarring anybody.
The Ocean’s 8 star once found herself in a hilarious, albeit uncomfortable position with her co-star, Ryan Reynolds, from The Proposal, when they were shooting a nude scene for the 2009 romantic comedy. And perhaps, that memory kept haunting Bullock incessantly because the actress and producer seemed to have had her fill when it came to stripping in front of the camera after that.
Why Sandra Bullock Refused to Do S*x Scenes in Films
Sandra Bullock is known for her versatility as a Hollywood actress, but when it comes to certain things like getting naked on-screen, the Speed star’s boundaries don’t budge.
In an old interview with Sunday Times Magazine, the award-winning actress remarked how she was least interested in getting sexy and raunchy in films due to, firstly, her personal preference, and secondly, because she’d rather not find out what her “best angles” were.
“I’m not the kind of person who says, ‘I’m gonna tape myself having s*xal intercourse because I’m gonna look good!’ I don’t want to know what my best angles are. Don’t wanna see it. Don’t want to hear it. Therefore, I’m not going to do it on film.”
Bullock, 58, who has starred in somewhere around 50 movies, has always declined to appear in any s*x scenes in the projects she undertook. It is rumored that the Don’t Look Up actress’ reluctance of performing s*xual activities of any kind on camera has been specified in her contract in the form of certain clauses.
Even in Anne Fletcher’s The Proposal, Bullock only agreed to shoot a nude scene with Ryan Reynolds because she felt “safe” enough to do so. She also laid down a condition wherein she would strip in front of the camera only if she was allowed to be “humiliated and funny” so as to tone down the atmosphere of the situation to a more comedic and comfortable level. And Reynolds took that a little too literally after their embarrassing mishap that took place behind the scenes.
The Hilarious Nude Incident That Took Place on The Proposal’s Set
While filming the 2009 rom-com, Bullock and Reynolds were supposed to shoot a scene wherein the former’s Margaret, who was fresh out of the shower, slipped and fell on the latter’s Andrew, who’d stripped his sweaty apparel off after coming back from a run. And when they were in the middle of filming it, a hilarious yet horrendous incident occurred wherein all the crew present in the closet set could see the Deadpool star’s private areas.
“I hear Anne Fletcher from the darkness go, ‘Ryan, we can see your ball sack!’ I’m like, ‘Oh God!'”, the Miss Congeniality actress said to Adam Ray on his podcast named About Last Night. “When they’d say cut, we couldn’t really move. He was on his back with his knees up, and I’m on the floor just sort of resting on his knees, just waiting, and you don’t wanna look and we couldn’t really move.”
Given the level of discomfort all that would’ve entailed, it’s no wonder why Bullock keeps her distance from s*x scenes on the screens.
