Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto and Boruto worlds have been through a lot in their journey to success and achieving what many other anime series could not do. Characters like Itachi, Pain, Madara, Obito, Kawaki, and more have had a big hand in the success because their stories connect with fans so well that they get emotionally attached to them.

These attachments lead to fans creating theories about their favorite character in accordance with the scenarios that they feel are right for the story. One such example is the theory developed by Naruto fans about Sasuke Uchiha, and his brother Itachi Uchiha. While the theory does not make sense, it surely is an interesting one.

According to the theory, when Sasuke and Itachi fought, Itachi put Sasuke under a genjutsu and since then he has been under that genjutsu all this while. This theory is supported by the various discrepancies that have taken place in Naruto’s sequel spin-off Boruto. This theory is a little bit similar to the one about the Infinite Tsukuyomi by Madara Uchiha.

Sasuke Fought And Won Against Itachi Uchiha

Sasuke and Itachi’s fight in Naruto was one of the best fights in Naruto. Sasuke has been driven only by the desire for revenge on his family and clan since his introduction. To track down and kill his older brother Itachi Uchiha, he gave up everything. After learning everything he could from Orochimaru, Sasuke was finally ready to exact his revenge.

When the two faced off in a predetermined fight, they were able to trade genjutsu moves until it became evident that they were not going to be victorious with just genjutsu. Despite not having Mangekyo Sharingan, Sasuke appeared to be capable of making Itachi work hard. Sasuke eventually made enough progress to overcome his brother and exact the retribution he had been striving for so long.

However, some other factors were also responsible for Sasuke’s victory against his elder brother. Apart from the fact that Itachi was gravely ill, he had always planned to let Sasuke kill him. The discussion about this fight surfaced years later when a theory surfaced online which stated that Sasuke had been under Itachi’s Genjutsu all along.

Theory Claims Sasuke Has Been Under Itachi Uchiha’s Genjutsu All This While

Some fans claim that Itachi used genjutsu on Sasuke during their final encounter. Just as he had done as a kid, Itachi stepped up to his brother for a final embrace and gave him a little tap on the forehead the moment he allowed Sasuke to beat him. While many thought it was a sentimental moment, some suspected Itachi was doing it to subdue Sasuke with his Genjutsu.

Although the theory sounds insane, it does make up for a lot of inconsistencies that were seen during Boruto. The first one was rooted in Naruto as it questioned the fact that even after doing such evil things, Sasuke was easily forgiven by everyone and went up to become the Shadow Hokage of Konoha.

The most important one of these discrepancies that supports the theory is that even after being away for most of his life, he is still loved by his daughter and is respected by almost everyone in Boruto. This proves that Sasuke is in some sort of illusion and the best way to prove this is by the theory about Sasuke being under a genjutsu.
