Scarlett Johansson’s Look In Avengers: Endgame Was Inspired By Sarah Connor In Terminator 2: Judgment Day

Scarlett Johansson was in peak physical condition for Avengers: Endgame, where she looked noticeably more muscular and had an intense air about her. While speaking to Bazaar, Eric Johnson, co-founder of elite fitness company Homage, revealed that Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow in Avengers: Endgame was directly inspired by Linda Hamilton, who portrayed Sarah Connor in Terminator 2.

Our inspiration for this iteration of Black Widow was Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2. Without the cigarette smoking, pounding the pavement for miles, and sleeping more than four hours a night.”

To achieve this goal, the training strategy adopted for Johansson resembled that of an athlete gearing up for competition. Johnson emphasized a performance-centric approach, adding that by focusing on her capabilities, her physique was more or less a given. Her training regime focused on “integrated foundational strength training,” which incorporated movements from plyometrics, yoga, Olympic weight lifting, kettlebells, and gymnastics to optimize performance. Naturally, she had to stick to a very strict and calculated diet as well.
