Season of the Malignant – The First Season of Many

The enemies hearts are caged

Season of the Malignant is less of an expansion and more of a self-contained sidequest Blizzard has explained. The story will take place in a land called Kyovashad, where there is a dark plague spreading that threatens to leak into Sanctuary.  Your new character will team up with another new character known as Cormand.  Cormand is a former priest from the cathedral of light.  Together you will battle against hordes of new malignant enemies and collect lots of new items and rewards to use against more malignant enemies.

It is worth noting that despite having a new character, a bunch of your progress from the main campaign of Diablo 4 will carry over to Season of the Malignant.  You will still have your altar of Lilith statues, your potion charges, your skill points and all of your map progress.  Rest assured you are still a titan stud.

The actual Season of Malignant will feature new dungeons or tunnels, as they are called.  When you reach the end of each area you will encounter an outgrowth, then use a crafted invoker (cause you crafted one of those, right?) And this will summon you an elite malignant to hopefully procure yourself a caged heart, a new item in game that will prove invaluable.

Are you looking forward to the upcoming first season of Diablo IV, or are you one of the many annoyed at the news of having to create a new character with every season? Let us know in the comments!
