After Tom Holland starred in the MCU Spider-Man film series, with No Way Home being the latest, fans have been impatient with excitement to see the web-slinger back on the big screens again. Up until a month or so ago, there had been no sufficient information on the subject. But then rumors started to simmer slowly and steadily about a Spider-Man 4 being in the works, and now it looks like the speculation was all true.

Sony’s CEO recently confirmed that a fourth installment in the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man movie series is indeed going to hit the screens. However, he did say that the film won’t be released anytime soon so fans should probably expect a good amount of waiting period before they finally get to see the superhero back in action.

Sony Executive Gives An Update on Spider-Man 4

Back when rumors started to surface about Tom Holland returning as the titular character of Peter Parker in Spider-Man 4, sources claimed that the film was already inpre-production. But there was no way of knowing whether that held any veracity or not. Turns out Spider-Man 4 really is happening after all. Sony’s chairman Tom Rothman has himself assured fans about it.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Rothman was asked if Sony had any concrete plans for Spider-Man 4, and the 68-year-old replied in the affirmative. “You bet,” he said. However, when asked to divulge an approximate time of release for the film, Rothman didn’t have a satisfactory response for it. All he mentioned was that Sony and Marvel are going to take their time with this project and they don’t plan on rushing anything.

“When you can expect it, I don’t know. Serve no wine before it’s time.”

Fans best believe they’re not seeing Holland in the fourth film for a good enough while. But knowing that the film is in development is still relieving just as much as it is exciting. Besides, they would also need to work out an array of things with regard to the film to ensure that it meets the audience’s expectations after the bar No Way Home set.

All We Know About Spider-Man 4 So Far

Most of the talk surrounding Spider-Man 4 at present is rumors and fan theories but these rumors are quite intriguing and should they be true, could play a major role in the film’s plot.

While plot details haven’t been disclosed yet, it is believed that Zendaya’s MJ is reportedly set to return alongside Holland’s Peter Parker in the movie. They’re also allegedly bringing other old characters, like Tom Hardy’s Venom and Michael Mando’s supervillain Scorpion. While all of this speculation is currently unaccounted for, Scorpion could definitely make up for a great villain given his history with Spider-Man; the two go way back to Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017).

Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: No Way Home ended with Holland’s character having erased all memory of himself from the minds of his friends and family. So, Spider-Man 4 is likely to pick up from that aspect of Spidey’s storyline.

Although no release date has been attached to the project yet, Spider-Man 4 is rumored to premiere in 2024.
