The post credit scene of Shang-Chi shows Xu Xialing, the sister of Shang-Chi heading the Ten Rings and restarting the training, including women this time in the organization. A recent tweet revealed that the scene would directly lead to the upcoming MCU film Armor Wars, which sees several secret organizations try to steal Tony Stark’s technology.
Is Don Cheadle’s Armor Wars Still In Development?
Don Cheadle has been in the MCU as James Rhodes a.k.a War Machine since Iron Man 2. The actor replaced Terrence Howard in the role, who played the character only in Iron Man. Cheadle has stayed on as the character since then and has even been promoted to the main roster of the Avengers in films such as Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
After years of being Tony Stark’s sidekick, James Rhodes would finally get to shine as a solo hero in the upcoming Armor Wars. Announced in 2020 as a Disney Plus show, the material was revamped to be a film in 2022 as the studio reportedly wanted to ‘tell the story in the right way’. Yassir Lester, who was hired as the head writer for the series would remain the writer for the film as well (via The Hollywood Reporter).
Based on the popular comic of the same name, Armor Wars would see James Rhodes fighting multiple organizations trying to steal Tony Stark’s technology after his death. While only Cheadle was confirmed to appear in the film, many speculated that characters such as Nick Fury and Riri Williams would make an appearance. Justin Hammer, who was played by Sam Rockwell in Iron Man 2 was also rumored to make an appearance (via ScreenRant).
Rhodes was last seen in the Disney Plus series Secret Invasion and was at odds with Nick Fury. How Will Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi Tie Into Armor Wars?
Though there has been little information about specific plot details of Armor Wars, a recent scoop revealed that 2021’s runaway hit Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings would have a lead for the film. According to X user Marvel Updates, the Simu Liu starrer’s post-credit scene would tie into the Armor Wars, with the Ten Rings being involved.

The post-credit scene in question sees Shang-Chi’s sister Xu Xialing take over the Ten Rings organization from their father Wenwu, despite promising to disband it. Xialing enters the main chamber of the organization and says that they have work to do, after which the camera reveals a new and improved Ten Rings, which includes female martial artists.
The end of the scene mentioned that the Ten Rings would return. According to the scoop by Marvel Updates, the Ten Rings could be one of the organizations that aim to steal Tony Stark’s designs and technology. The organization has already dealt with Tony Stark before in the Iron Man films, where he escapes from the Afghanistan cell of the organization.
