Colombian pop superstar Shakira and Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué were once a glamorous power couple. Their chance meeting in 2010, on the set of her music video for “Waka Waka” sparked a love story between the two celebrities.
Shakira, known for her electrifying dance moves and global hits, and Piqué, a central defender for FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team, seemed to have it all. They built a beautiful family with their two sons, Milan and Sasha. However, in June 2022, their seemingly perfect world came crashing down as they announced their separation, and nothing seems to have been the same for the two since.
Shakira Thinks She Will Probably Never Find Love Again
Shakira recently sat down with Zane Lowe on Apple Music One for a chat. Lowe asked whether the star was open to finding love again to which she replied that she was open to friendship. She believes friendships last longer than love.
Further, the pop star talked about how she does not think that she will ever find love again. It is a “broken dream” for the star because she had thought that love would be there forever for her.
“I think friendship lasts longer than love. Though I still think experiencing love, fully experiencing it with all its with its Peaks and valleys is so essential to human life.”
“So you still love love?” “I love love but I think I even love friendship a little bit more because I thought love would be there forever for me and and that’s one of my you know Broken Dreams. Perhaps, I will, I don’t know if I’ll like you know find it again. Probably Not, I don’t know. But friendship, I have friendship I was one of those people who valued friendship as much I’ve been I’ve always valued family and having a partner been a couple always been a couple always been in a couple.”
“When I lost my voice and when I had to face the darkest and the hardest moments of my life, friends were there and they kept me they kept me together, and those who did it really showed me the the true meaning of life you know. I might not grow old with a with a partner but I I will grow old maybe with surrounded by good friends.”
Shakira values her friends and family more than anything. She thanks them for being by her side through her darkest phases. While she might not be any longer with a partner, she trusts her friends to take care of her.
Why Did Shakira and Gerard Piqué Never Marry?
Fans were more than shocked by the news of Gerard Piqué and Shakira separating. However, many did not know that the two never married each other, despite dating for more than 10 years. The two celebrities were also parents to two kids.
The possible reason behind this is that they did not find it very necessary. In an interview with Glamour in 2014, the pop star said that the two already had whatever is needed and a marriage wasn’t going to change much.
“We already have what’s essential, you know?” “We have a union, a love for each other, and a baby. I think that those aspects of our relationship are already established, and marriage is not going to change them. But if I’m ever going to get married, he’s the one.”
