The current One Piece narrative has reached its peak with the release of chapter 1123, which might have put forward a new topic of discussion for fans. The chapter has finally revealed the character who could rival Shanks in terms of Haki abilities, and this character is none other than the first pirate of the One Piece world, Joy Boy.
Chapter 1122 of One Piece, which was released on August 5, showed a Haki attack that was released by the Iron Giant but belonged to Joy Boy. This attack was so strong that not only was it visible from miles away, but it also reverted three of the Five Elders back to their Yokai forms and sent them back to the Pangea Castle.
This attack not only sparked a discussion between the One Piece characters, but it also sparked a Shanks vs. Joy Boy Haki debate about which character is stronger. While Shanks fans believe that the Yonko’s Haki is unimaginable, others believe that Joy Boy, being the first pirate, might prove himself better at using Haki than Shanks.
The Might of Shanks’ Haki in One Piece
Rising to the level of an Emperor without any Devil Fruit is a next-to-impossible task. However, Red-Haired Shanks has not only fulfilled this task, but he has also stayed as the Emperor for the longest time according to One Piece’s timeline.
While his skills as a pirate and a swordsman might have come in handy, the main reason why Shanks is in the top spot is because of his powerful Haki, which quite literally is the strongest in the world. And he has proved this on multiple occasions, as he solely relies on his Haki in fights and battles.
The two biggest examples of the strength of his Haki were seen when he defeated Eustass Kid using Divine Departure and when he intimidated Ryokugyu as he was crossing Wano. Both these attacks required an unusual amount of Conqueror’s Haki, and Shanks did them pretty easily, which in itself speaks for his might.
Shanks’ Haki Rival Has Finally Been Revealed in One Piece
Until chapter 1122, One Piece fans firmly believed that Shanks was the strongest Conqueror’s Haki user in the world of One Piece. While there were other characters like Garp who could have challenged him, they would not have reached the level that Shanks is at right now.
But the impact of the attack that the Iron Giant released shocked everyone to the point where they started assuming that the Haki attack was stronger than anything Shanks has ever done in One Piece.

Not only One Piece fans, but even Shanks’ own friends, Dorry and Brogy, were in awe of the mysterious Haki ability.
The jury is still out about whether Joy Boy’s Haki was stronger than Shanks or not, as Shanks has yet to reveal the full extent of his Conqueror’s Haki. However, the one thing that can be said for certain is that the upcoming chapters of One Piece that will focus on the Elbaf arc are going to be filled with even more thrills and excitement.
