Indeed, Claudia Doumit is a great actress, who can bring out the character complexities of Talia al Ghul effortlessly. To make matters, even better everyone approves of the fan casting, but it would be a terrible idea because Christopher Nolan had tried and was criticized for it in his The Dark Knight Trilogy.
James Gunn Should Not Be Tempted To Cast Claudia Doumit as Talia al Ghul in His DCU
Christian Bale’s The Dark Knight Trilogy, directed by Christopher Nolan, is considered to be one of the greatest superhero trilogies ever made. However, some ardent fans of the franchise have pointed out how the Oppenheimer director has whitewashed the characters in the Batman universe.
Talia al Ghul makes her on-screen debut in The Dark Knight Rises, she is the daughter of Ra’s al Ghul, portrayed by the white French actress Marion Cotillard. Though the portrayal of the character was flawless, the problem here is that in the comics, she appears to be someone from the Middle East.
Moreover, James Gunn should not repeat the same mistake as Nolan, despite Claudia Doumit being an outstanding actress, her country of origin is Australia. Furthermore, getting criticized by the fans would be the last thing Gunn would want in his rebooted DCU.
