Travis Kelce’s Coach Credits Taylor Swift for Boosting Kansas City Chiefs’ Performance in Super Bowl

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift have been openly cheering each other since they officially started dating in September 2023. They’ve been very public about their support for one another.

Despite the 17-hour time gap between Tokyo and Las Vegas, the pop singer managed to make it to this year’s Super Bowl to cheer her boyfriend. Tay had shows in Tokyo from February 7-10, but she still found a way to attend the Super Bowl.

Having her around boosted the Kansas City Chiefs’ performance. Even Dave Merritt, the defensive backs coach, praised the 34-year-old singer for her positive impact on her boyfriend’s squad. On Wednesday’s episode of The Sports Shop Podcast with Reese & K-Mac (via Page Six):

“She actually affected the team in a positive way. It wasn’t a negative way. Everybody was excited and Travis was happy. So when my player, a brother, is happy beside me, that helps me and that encourages me and so Travis came in there a different man. So, she helped us.”

Merritt also revealed that Swift is now considered part of the team’s “family”:

“There were so many people that were hating the fact that she was being shown on the TV that, you know what? You’re part of our family because you’re now with Travis. So, therefore, you’re our little sister…You’re part of our family.”

The coach further added that the Daylight singer began visiting the stadiums “secretly” before her relationship was revealed. She was sneaking into the stadiums without anyone noticing until the cameras caught her.

NFL organizers are already getting ready for the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans. Two NFL business insiders, interviewed by The U.S. Sun, think that if the Cruel Summer star performs at the Caesars Superdome, it could become the most watched Super Bowl of all time.

A source who works as a business consultant for the NFL said, “Taylor’s relationship with Travis is probably the best gift ever made to the NFL.”

“It’s a huge win-win for the league, and for them,” they added. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell sees T-Swizzle’s potential to bring in viewers who aren’t typically football fans and a younger crowd. He said, “The ads could reach a cost of $8.5 million each, an increase of $1 million, or more,” continuing:

“This year, it has been estimated that her presence helped generate a lot of money, estimated between $700-750 million. If she is the main artist of next year’s halftime show, it’s expected to generate more than $1.3-1.5 billion.”

An external business consultant for the NFL stated that important people within the organization really want to book Swift for the event. They are actively working to make it a reality.
